Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Staff Product Manager, Browser Control Platform based in Canada.
This senior product role owns the shared technical foundation that enables software and other products to securely and reliably interact with a web browser. You will define the strategy for a greenfield platform used by internal teams, external AI tools, and web developers. The role combines deep technical understanding with product strategy, requiring you to determine which opportunities to pursue and how to prioritize them. You will shape both open web standards and differentiated platform capabilities while establishing strong security and trust controls. Working across engineering, product, and external ecosystems, you will create building blocks that other teams and products can confidently depend on. Success will be measured through platform adoption, usage, reliability, and security in a fast-moving and highly technical environment.
- Own the strategy, roadmap, and evolution of the shared browser-control foundation and the building blocks that enable other software to interact with the browser.
- Ensure the platform is reliable, secure, scalable, and intuitive for the teams and products that depend on it.
- Drive the advancement and adoption of the WebDriver BiDi open standard while identifying browser-specific capabilities that can provide additional value beyond the standard.
- Define and develop safety and control mechanisms that allow people to understand when software is acting on their behalf, approve actions when appropriate, and easily regain control.
- Establish the product strategy for supporting major third-party AI assistants and other emerging software experiences.
- Serve the needs of both internal product teams and external tools through a cohesive shared platform rather than fragmented solutions.
- Determine which opportunities to pursue, how to prioritize them, and where to invest resources based on user needs, technical feasibility, strategic value, and platform impact.
- Partner closely with engineering and other technical stakeholders to translate complex platform capabilities into a clear product vision and actionable roadmap.
- Establish success metrics around adoption across teams and tools, platform usage volume, sustained reliability, and security.
- Navigate a rapidly evolving technical landscape, balancing near-term execution with the long-term evolution of the platform and ecosystem.
- Product-minded engineering background or significant experience as a highly technical Product Manager leading technical products and platforms.
- Strong experience working in developer-focused environments, with the ability to understand both technical users and broader consumer-facing needs.
- Demonstrated ability to define product strategy and make high-quality prioritization decisions in ambiguous or greenfield environments.
- Experience owning a technical contract, such as an API, protocol, schema, SDK, platform interface, or similar foundation that other teams or products depend on.
- Strong understanding of platform product management, developer experiences, technical ecosystems, and products built for reuse across multiple teams or users.
- Strong instincts around security, privacy, safety, and user trust, particularly for products that enable software to act on behalf of people.
- Ability to work effectively with engineering teams and engage credibly in technical discussions, architectural trade-offs, and platform decisions.
- Excellent strategic thinking, with the ability to identify opportunities, establish priorities, and translate ambiguity into a focused product direction.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to influence technical and product decisions across organizational boundaries.
- Comfort operating in a fast-moving environment where the technology, standards, and market landscape are still evolving.
- Experience with web standards, MCP, browser automation, or related technologies is considered an asset.
- A strong interest in AI-powered software experiences and the evolving ways people and applications interact with the web is highly valuable.
- Generous performance-based bonus opportunities for eligible employees, with compensation tied to shared organizational success.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- Generous retirement contributions with 100% immediate vesting, regardless of employee contributions.
- Quarterly company-wide wellness days.
- Country-specific holidays plus a dedicated day off for your birthday.
- One-time home office stipend to support an effective remote workspace.
- Annual professional development budget.
- Quarterly well-being stipend.
- Considerable paid parental leave.
- Employee referral bonus program.
- Additional benefits such as life and AD&D insurance, disability coverage, and an employee assistance program, varying by country.
- Remote work opportunity in Canada with the flexibility and autonomy associated with a distributed environment.
- Opportunity to shape a foundational platform at the intersection of browsers, developer tooling, AI, automation, and emerging web standards.
- High-impact role with significant ownership over product strategy, technical direction, and platform adoption.
- Inclusive environment that values diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and approaches to problem-solving.
- Reasonable accommodations are available for qualified candidates throughout the application and interview process.
