Job Description

Description:

Job Summary

The Rebuild & Retrofit Solutions Engineer develops technical, mechanically sound solutions for our Aftersales product line — Retrofits, Rebuilds, Molds, Service, and new OEM blow molding equipment. This role evaluates a customer's existing machine, application, and production goals, then scopes and specifies the engineering solution that gets them there, translating that scope into accurate budgetary and formal proposals.

This is a technical role first: you'll be reading machine drawings and specifications, assessing mechanical feasibility, and working directly with engineering and outside sales to build proposals that are both commercially sound and mechanically correct.

Duties and Responsibilities

Technical Scoping & Proposal Development (Primary Function)

  • Evaluate a customer's existing machine population, application, and production requirements to determine retrofit or rebuild scope
  • Read and interpret machine drawings, schematics, and specifications for OEM blow molding equipment
  • Gather and assess all technical information required to build proposals for new OEM blow molding equipment
  • Create budgetary and formal technical proposals for new machines, retrofits, and rebuilds per customer requirements and Uniloy engineering recommendations
  • Analyze customer requests and orders to build a complete, technically accurate understanding of the customer's need and scope of work
  • Manage the quotation process, including pricing updates, margin targets, and technical accuracy of the proposed solution

Sales & Customer Engagement

  • Apply comprehensive product and mechanical knowledge to competitively promote and sell Aftersales products (Parts, Retrofits, Rebuilds, Molds, Service, and Blow Mold Training)
  • Communicate with customers by telephone, email, virtual meeting, or in person to gather technical requirements and discuss proposed solutions
  • Handle customer inquiries and complaints with a professional, solutions-oriented approach
  • Correspond with outside sales in preparation of technical sales quotations

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Engage with sales representatives and engineering to ensure prompt, technically sound processing of proposal requests and orders
  • Maintain Aftersales records regarding domestic and international machine population
  • Review costs and pricing to confirm margins align with departmental goals without compromising technical scope

Order Accuracy & Documentation

  • Ensure quotations and order entry are accurate and consistent with department goals (dates, terms, and warranty considerations)
  • All other duties as assigned
Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field — or equivalent hands-on mechanical/engineering experience
  • 1–3 years of experience with automated machinery, plastics equipment, or mechanical/industrial systems
  • Experience reading mechanical drawings, schematics, or specifications, and scoping retrofit, rebuild, or upgrade solutions strongly preferred
  • Background in blow molding, injection molding, or similar industrial equipment is a plus

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude — able to read machine drawings and specifications and translate them into a workable solution
  • Ability to evaluate the engineering feasibility and scope of a retrofit, rebuild, or new machine proposal
  • Use of logic and reasoning to weigh the strengths and weaknesses of alternative technical solutions and approaches
  • Ability to translate technical requirements into clear, accurate proposals for both customers and internal engineering/sales teams
  • Strong work ethic and self-starter mentality; comfortable owning a proposal from technical scope through final quote
  • Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team
  • Working knowledge of quotation, ERP, and CRM systems, or ability to learn quickly

Work Environment

Office / Manufacturing environment. Employee may be occasionally exposed to moving equipment, mechanical parts in motion, risk of shock, and other hazards associated with a manufacturing environment such as overhead cranes, welding, machining, and painting.

This is an office-based position that requires walking, sitting, standing, bending, reading, seeing, hearing, speaking, concentrating, and communicating.
