Job Description
Job Overview
The Nick Schnyder Law Firm is seeking a full-time, in-office Settlement Coordinator to join our Accounting Department. The ideal candidate must be bilingual, fluent in both English and Spanish and will assist with the disbursement of all Personal Injury proceeds. The position requires frequent phone conversations with medical providers, insurance companies, and clients, and may also involve meeting with clients to provide settlement statements and checks.
Key Responsibilities
Confirm balances on the most recent medical bills and case-related expenses in the client file.
Coordinate and negotiate reductions with medical providers.
Draft, review, and finalize settlement statements.
Review final settlement breakdowns and confirm accuracy with the accounting team.
Request settlement checks as needed.
Meet with clients to provide settlement checks.
Send settlement statements to clients.
Correspond with medical facilities, vendors, and clients via phone, email, and fax.
Draft provider check letters and referral source check letters.
Mail provider and referral source letters and checks.
Scan and save signed checks to the client file and designated document storage platforms (e.g., Dropbox).
Process incoming and outgoing accounting-related mail.
Work with the accounting team to ensure data accuracy in the case management system (Filevine).
Document all interactions and updates in the client file and assist with file closure.
Perform other duties, projects, and assignments as requested.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required, bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an administrative or customer service role; experience in a personal injury law firm, insurance billing, accounts payable/receivable, or as an insurance adjuster is strongly preferred.
Strong background in accounting with excellent mathematical skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, including advanced use of spreadsheets and data reporting tools.
Demonstrated ability to analyze data, prepare reports, and manage multiple spreadsheets simultaneously.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive and confidential information.
Notary certification preferred.
Dependable, punctual, and highly organized.
Positive attitude with a strong work ethic and willingness to go above and beyond to meet team and organizational goals.
