Their role combines legal expertise, strategic judgment, and client advocacy to protect rights and achieve desired outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of family law matters from intake through resolution
- Represent clients in court hearings, trials, mediations, and settlement conferences
- Draft and review pleadings, motions, discovery, and settlement agreements
- Conduct legal research and develop strategies for complex family law issues
- Communicate regularly with clients and provide legal guidance
- Negotiate settlements and advocate for clients in contested and uncontested matters
- Collaborate with paralegals and support staff to ensure timely case progression
- Maintain accurate billing, timekeeping, and case documentation
- Stay current on family law statutes, case law, and procedural rules
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in Idaho
- 1–3+ years of family law or litigation experience preferred
- Courtroom and litigation experience strongly preferred
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical abilities
- Strong negotiation, communication, and advocacy skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Professionalism, empathy, and strong client‑management skills
Skills
- Proficiency with legal practice management software (Clio preferred, but not required)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize efficiently
- Commitment to high‑quality legal representation and ethical practice
