Opportunities available in the heart of Dallas
We are seeking a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)/Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) Obesity Medicine, Diabetes, and Lifestyle Health Specialist. This position serves as the organization's subject matter expert in medical nutrition therapy, diabetes self-management education and support (DSMES), obesity management, food insecurity interventions, and chronic disease prevention. The position functions as an integrated member of the primary care team and collaborates with providers, pharmacists, behavioral health clinicians, care coordinators, and quality leaders to improve outcomes, support HEDIS and UDS performance, and advance health equity.

Here's a sneak peek at what you'll do:
- Provide comprehensive medical nutrition therapy, including assessment, care planning, counseling, monitoring, and documentation for patients with diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, PCOS, gestational diabetes, and other nutrition-related conditions.
- Serve as the organization's diabetes education leader by conducting individual and group Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSMES) sessions and providing education on medications, insulin use, glucose monitoring, and complication prevention.
- Educate and support patients using Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) technology, including data interpretation, lifestyle modifications, and collaboration with providers to improve outcomes.
- Support obesity medicine programs through comprehensive assessments, behavioral counseling, meal planning, physical activity guidance, weight management strategies, and collaboration with providers managing anti-obesity medications.
- Deliver lifestyle medicine counseling focused on nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress management, emotional eating, habit formation, motivational interviewing, and sustainable behavior change.
- Provide specialized nutrition services for women's health and pediatrics, including prenatal nutrition, gestational diabetes management, breastfeeding support, PCOS care, pediatric obesity treatment, and family-centered lifestyle interventions.
- Support population health, quality improvement, and social determinant initiatives through care-gap closure, patient outreach, chronic disease management, food insecurity screening, and referrals to community resources.
- Develop and lead community education programs, wellness workshops, diabetes prevention initiatives, healthy cooking demonstrations, and employer wellness activities.
- Educate healthcare providers and staff on nutrition best practices, diabetes management, obesity medicine, and evidence-based lifestyle interventions whileparticipatingin research, program evaluation, and quality improvement projects.
- Maintainaccuratedocumentation in eClinicalWorks and ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, privacy, and organizational standards, including ADA, ADCES, CMS, HIPAA, and Joint Commission requirements.
What you need to succeed
To be a productive member of our team, you will have a pleasant and professional demeanor, be a self-starter, the ability to work independently, strong communication skills, and the ability to preserve confidentiality. You will also have the following:
- Bachelor's degree in nutrition, Dietetics, Food and Nutrition Sciences, ora related field.
- Must be a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and hold an active Texas Licensed Dietitian credential.
- Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) certificationrequired.
- Minimum of two years of clinical nutrition experience providing patient care and nutrition counseling.
- Preferred experience in obesity medicine, primary care, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), and management of patients using GLP-1/GIP therapies.
- Experience educating patients on Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) systems and conducting individual and group education programs is highly desirable.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills and National Diabetes Prevention Program Lifestyle Coach Certification are preferred.
- Additionalpreference for candidates holding a Certified Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management (CSOWM)credentials.
- Strong competencies in medical nutrition therapy, diabetes education, obesity and lifestyle medicine, motivational interviewing, population health, quality improvement, food insecurity interventions, patient engagement, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
