Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY: This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accountant to build a strong foundation in a hands-on finance environment. The Staff Accountant will support the day-to-day accounting operations of the company and help ensure an accurate and timely month-end close. This role offers broad exposure to general accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting support, audit support, and selected manufacturing-related accounting activities. The right candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, eager to learn, and interested in growing into a broader accounting role over time.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
General Ledger Support:
- Assist with the preparation of recurring and non-recurring journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigate reconciling items, and work with the broader team to resolve issues on a timely basis
- Maintain account analyses and supporting schedules for assigned accounts
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities and gain exposure to the company’s overall financial reporting process
- Reconcile bank accounts and corporate credit card accounts monthly
- Assist with sales and use tax filings and related reconciliations
- Prepare and reconcile intercompany accounts and assist with settlement of intercompany balances
- Support fixed asset accounting, including capital additions, disposals, and depreciation schedules
- Assist with inventory, cost of goods sold, and other manufacturing-related account reconciliations as needed
- Support internal and external audit requests by preparing schedules and maintaining organized supporting documentation
- Partner with other departments to research transaction discrepancies and build an understanding of how operational activity flows through the financial statements
- Look for opportunities to improve accuracy, organization, and efficiency in assigned processes
- Assist with special projects and other ad hoc assignments as needed

LEVEL OF SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Under general supervision, proceeds along on regular duties, referring questionable cases to supervisor or others.
EDUCATION, TRAINING and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred. Internship experience, public accounting experience, or up to two years of relevant accounting experience is helpful but not required. This role is well suited for a recent graduate or early-career candidate looking to build a strong foundation in general accounting. Exposure to month-end close, reconciliations, or manufacturing environments is a plus.
TECHNICAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, and/or LICENSES: Strong Excel skills and comfort working with data and reconciliations are important. Experience with pivot tables, lookups, or ERP systems is helpful, but the ability and willingness to learn quickly is just as important. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is required.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to identify issues, gather the relevant facts, analyze the underlying activity, and reach sound conclusions is required. Must be able to exercise judgment within established policies and procedures, raise issues when needed, and follow through to resolution.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and verbally, is required. Must be able to prepare routine reports and correspondence and work effectively with various levels of staff and management across the organization.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS and/or PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Will use a computer keyboard, monitor, and mouse regularly.
