This role focuses on transforming complex mortgage and fintech systems into clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation that supports both technical and non-technical audiences.
You will play a key role in bridging engineering, product, and compliance teams by translating system functionality, regulatory requirements, and technical workflows into accessible content.
The position involves creating and maintaining documentation across lending platforms, APIs, and internal knowledge bases in a highly regulated environment.
You will ensure that all materials are consistent, up to date, and aligned with industry standards and compliance frameworks.
This is a collaborative role that directly supports product releases, onboarding, and operational efficiency across financial systems.
The environment is fast-paced, detail-driven, and highly cross-functional, requiring strong communication and structure in documentation practices.

Accountabilities:
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for mortgage and fintech platforms, including LOS, POS, and servicing systems.
  • Develop API documentation, user guides, knowledge base articles, and training materials for internal and external users.
  • Translate complex technical, regulatory, and financial concepts into clear, structured, and accessible content.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and compliance teams to document system features, updates, and workflows.
  • Ensure documentation aligns with regulatory requirements such as RESPA, TILA, HMDA, and TRID.
  • Maintain documentation standards, style guides, version control, and content lifecycle management.
  • Support onboarding and training initiatives through structured instructional content and learning materials.
  • Participate in product release cycles to ensure documentation readiness and accuracy.
  • Gather user and stakeholder feedback to continuously improve documentation quality and usability.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3–5+ years of technical writing experience, preferably in fintech, mortgage, or regulated industries (or 7+ years total experience in lieu of degree).
  • Strong ability to understand and explain complex technical systems in a clear and structured way.
  • Experience creating API documentation and developer-facing technical content.
  • Familiarity with documentation tools such as Confluence, SharePoint, Markdown editors, and version control systems (Git/GitHub/GitLab).
  • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and evolving priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in mortgage, lending, or financial services is highly valued.
  • Understanding of Agile/Scrum environments and modern software development workflows is a plus.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Public Trust clearance.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary ranging from $50,000 to $70,000 annually.
  • Fully remote work within the United States.
  • Full-time W2 employment with stable working hours (40 hours/week, ET business hours).
  • Opportunity to work in a highly regulated fintech and mortgage technology environment.
  • Exposure to API-first, microservices, and digital mortgage transformation initiatives.
  • Collaborative work with engineering, product, and compliance teams.
  • Experience building impactful documentation that supports critical financial systems and users.
