Job Description

Portal Specialist (UK, London, South East)

Hybrid/Remote work arrangement with requirements to attend our Burgess Hill site for the onboarding training and other ad-hoc meetings.
In addition, this position may require up to 10% travel annually, including quarterly or annual business reviews.
Full time, permanent position.

As a Portal Specialist within the global sales organisation, you will own and coordinate responses to customer and prospect inquiries submitted through third-party portals. Partnering with Business Development, field sales, and regulatory teams you will support growth and regional sales targets. The ideal candidate has experience in inside sales, sales support or customer service, can interpret sales metrics, and demonstrates a goal-oriented mindset. This role reports directly to the Senior Director, Business Development, Europe and is accountable for coordinating portal strategy execution, supporting regional portal targets, and ensuring timely, accurate responses to RFQs submitted through Scientist.com and Science Exchange for current customers and new prospects.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver against assigned portal sales targets by managing third-party portal opportunities from inquiry through quote, follow-up, and handoff to the responsible account owner.

• Respond to customer requests while working closely with responsible account owners to drive new customer acquisition, revenue growth, and retention with current and prospective customers.

• Work closely with the Field sales team on portal strategies and help develop a playbook that documents a standardized process for managing routine requests.

• Use Salesforce CRM or similar tools to track customer interactions, manage leads, monitor progress against targets, and support sales pipeline forecasting.

• Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries from multiple channels, providing accurate product information and pricing as needed.

• Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities, prepare quotes for standard products, and actively convert portal inquiries into qualified sales opportunities.

Measurable Success Criteria:

• Meet or exceed assigned portal sales targets and contribute qualified opportunities to the regional sales pipeline.

• Respond to portal inquiries and RFQs within agreed service timelines while maintaining professional customer communication.

• Maintain accurate CRM records for portal leads, quotes, follow-ups, pipeline status, and conversion outcomes.

• Prepare accurate quotes for standard products and coordinate timely internal input for non-standard product requests.

• Track portal activity, conversion rates, and sales performance trends to support business reviews and continuous improvement.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

• Proven work experience as a sales support specialist or customer support associate

• Hands-on experience with ERP and CRM systems

• Proficiency with MS Office Suite, particularly MS Excel

• In-depth understanding of best-in-class customer service practices

• Excellent communication skills

• Analytical and multitasking skills

• Teamwork and motivational skills

• BS degree in science or marketing experience in a relevant field preferred

• Willingness to travel for customer meetings, industry events and regional meetings
