Opportunity – the ‘what’As a Production Lead, you will:
- Oversee XML-first typesetting from handover of developed content through to print‑ready PDFs, eBook formats, and XML archiving.
- Manage core offshore suppliers, ensuring service quality, accountability, and adherence to KPIs and SLAs.
- Liaise with editors, designers, and typesetters to support interpretation of complex content, artwork placement, digital expectations, and queries.
- Drive efficiency across schedules, costs, and production processes.
- Triage and resolve supplier queries around content, artwork, design, XML capture, and accessibility, working with in-house P&CO and Editorial teams.
- Engage with adjacent teams such as Procurement, Design, Content Engineering, Content Data Strategy, and Digital Content Controllers.
- Manage budgets, advise Publishing teams on costings, and monitor supplier performance.
- Ensure production standards, accessibility requirements, and technical specifications are fully met.
- Identify risks to timelines and quality, implementing mitigation plans.
- Stay current on emerging publishing technologies and workflows.
- Mentor and coach suppliers to improve capability, quality, and efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement and take part in business process transformation initiatives.
- Conduct quality assurance across XML, print, eBook, and multi‑format outputs.

About YouEssential Criteria- Significant experience in content production within educational publishing, including complex artwork and text designs
- Strong track record managing outsourced production services (print & digital) with global vendors
- Expertise in XML‑first, supplier‑led multi‑format production
- Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and resources across multiple products
- Excellent project‑management and problem‑solving skills, including risk management
- Strong supplier‑management skills
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with cross‑functional stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and manage expectations at all levels
- In‑depth knowledge of production standards, accessibility requirements, and emerging publishing technologies
- Experience working with global teams across multiple regions/markets
- Familiarity with lean workflows or iterative development methodologies
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and CoPilot, and ability to learn new technologies
