Director, Clinical Supply Chain

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Director, Clinical Supply Chain in the United States.

This leadership role sits at the core of global clinical development operations, ensuring that investigational medicines are available to patients safely, efficiently, and on time across clinical trials. You will oversee end-to-end clinical supply chain strategy, including demand planning, supply forecasting, packaging, labeling, and global distribution activities. Acting as both a strategic leader and operational expert, you will guide cross-functional teams and ensure alignment between Clinical Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, and other key stakeholders. The role requires strong experience in clinical supply environments operating under GCP and cGMP standards, with a focus on optimizing supply continuity while minimizing risk and waste. You will also play a key role in vendor management, clinical trial support, and escalation resolution across global programs. This is a high-impact position suited for a leader who thrives in complex, regulated, and fast-paced biotech or pharmaceutical environments.

Accountabilities

In this role, you will lead clinical supply chain strategy and execution across global clinical programs, ensuring seamless supply continuity and operational excellence.

  • Lead and develop clinical supply chain teams, including supply chain leads and execution-focused functions such as labeling and CMO management
  • Oversee the creation and execution of clinical supply plans, demand forecasts, packaging, and distribution strategies
  • Ensure effective management of cGMP inventory, drug accountability, and supply continuity across clinical trials
  • Develop and implement supply strategies that optimize efficiency, reduce waste, and mitigate supply risks
  • Act as a key escalation point for clinical study teams and resolve critical supply chain issues
  • Represent the clinical supply function in governance forums such as development review and core teams
  • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure alignment and execution
  • Lead budget planning and financial oversight for the clinical supply chain function
  • Drive process improvements, SOP development, CAPAs, and continuous optimization initiatives
Requirements

The ideal candidate brings extensive clinical supply chain leadership experience within pharma or biotech, combined with strong regulatory knowledge and cross-functional collaboration skills.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in supply chain, business, operations, or a related field
  • 10+ years of progressive supply chain experience, including significant clinical supply chain expertise in pharma or biotech
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing high-performing teams in a global environment
  • Strong experience supporting global clinical trials (Phase I–III)
  • Deep understanding of GCP and cGMP regulations
  • Expertise in clinical packaging, labeling, distribution, and comparator sourcing
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, global, and highly regulated environment
  • Strong financial and operational planning capabilities
