The Senior Architectural Technologist Team Lead provides technical leadership, project oversight, and people development within the Architectural Technologist team. This role is responsible for ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality construction documentation, technical excellence, and efficient project execution across a portfolio of work. Acting as a key link between design, production, and project delivery, the Senior Architectural Technologist Team Lead guides technical decision-making, establishes best practices, and supports the successful coordination of project teams, consultants, and stakeholders.
In addition to overseeing the technical aspects of projects, this role is responsible for mentoring and developing team members, managing resources and workloads, and nurturing a collaborative, high-performing team environment. - Lead and manage a team of Architectural Technologists, advancing collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence.
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities to all technologists.
- Conduct performance reviews, establish development goals, and contribute to succession planning and workforce development initiatives.
- Participate in recruitment activities, including candidate interviews, hiring recommendations, onboarding, and team resource planning.
- Oversee the production and quality of architectural drawings, specifications, and construction documentation across multiple projects.
- Ensure all technical deliverables align with design intent, building codes, regulations, industry standards, and firm quality expectations.
- Collaborate closely with Architects, Interior Designers, Clients, and Consultants to deliver coordinated and buildable design solutions.
- Lead technical coordination with structural, mechanical, electrical, and specialty consultants throughout project development.
- Manage project schedules, technical resources, and team workloads to support successful project delivery.
- Serve as the primary technical authority for complex design, detailing, code compliance, and construction-related challenges.
- Review and approve technical documentation, BIM models, and project deliverables to ensure consistency, accuracy, and quality.
- Drive the implementation and continuous improvement of BIM standards, technical processes, and quality control procedures.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, industry best practices, and regulatory changes, ensuring continuous improvement across the team.
- 10+ years of architectural production experience with progressively increasing technical and leadership responsibilities.
- Proven experience leading, mentoring, and developing technical teams within an architectural practice.
- Advanced proficiency in Revit, BIM platforms, and architectural production software.
- Extensive knowledge of building systems, construction methods, detailing practices, and technical documentation.
- Strong understanding of applicable building codes, accessibility requirements, zoning regulations, and industry standards.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex projects, including scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, and technical delivery.
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and project teams.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills when working with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Experience implementing and maintaining BIM standards, quality control processes, and technical best practices.
- Ability to identify and resolve complex technical and construction challenges while maintaining project objectives.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively delegate responsibilities and balance team workloads.
- Experience supporting recruitment, performance management, workforce planning, and employee development initiatives.
