This forward-looking compliance leadership role sits at the intersection of ethics, data, and innovation, focused on transforming how risk is identified, assessed, and monitored across a global life sciences organization. The Associate Director will help design next-generation risk frameworks that leverage advanced analytics, AI, and behavioral insights to proactively detect and mitigate emerging compliance risks. Operating within a fast-evolving biotech environment, the role partners closely with cross-functional teams including Internal Audit, Legal, Finance, Medical, and Commercial to strengthen governance and ensure ethical business practices. Beyond traditional compliance oversight, this position is responsible for building intelligent monitoring systems that enhance transparency, accountability, and decision-making. The role combines strategic vision with hands-on execution, delivering actionable insights through dashboards, reporting tools, and continuous monitoring programs. It is highly influential in shaping the future of compliance operations and enabling responsible innovation across the business.
- Design and implement an advanced Risk Assessment and Mitigation Plan (RAMP) framework leveraging AI, machine learning, behavioral analytics, and data-driven insights to proactively identify emerging compliance risks.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret global compliance data to detect risk patterns, control gaps, fraud indicators, and non-compliance trends, translating findings into actionable executive-level insights.
- Develop and enhance a dynamic compliance monitoring framework in collaboration with Internal Audit and other functional teams, including Quality, Finance, and external partners.
- Build and deliver high-quality monitoring reports and dashboards, including executive summaries, root cause analyses, and actionable recommendations for risk mitigation.
- Lead or support live monitoring activities such as field interactions, advisory boards, and speaker programs to ensure adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee third-party risk management processes, including anti-bribery/anti-corruption due diligence, sanctions screening, and background checks.
- Ensure data integrity, traceability, and governance across all risk assessment and monitoring activities.
- Serve as the primary compliance liaison for Internal Audit, supporting planning, testing, documentation review, and remediation actions.
- Contribute to compliance investigations, including root cause analysis and reporting outcomes.
- Identify and assess emerging risk areas such as digital engagement, AI-driven processes, data privacy, and trade compliance.
- Support gap assessments and remediation tracking to ensure consistent execution of risk and compliance actions across the organization.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Business, Data Science, Law, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in compliance, risk management, audit, or related roles within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
- Strong expertise in designing and implementing risk assessment and monitoring frameworks, ideally incorporating data analytics, AI, or machine learning.
- Deep understanding of global life sciences compliance frameworks, regulatory expectations, and industry best practices.
- Strong analytical skills with experience building dashboards, reporting tools, and compliance monitoring systems.
- Ability to translate complex datasets and regulatory signals into clear, actionable business insights.
- Proven experience supporting internal audits, inspections, and remediation activities.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across Legal, Commercial, Medical, Finance, and Audit functions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive reporting and presentation capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple complex initiatives.
- Experience driving innovation and change within compliance or risk management functions.
- Willingness to travel approximately 20% as required.
- Competitive base salary range of $172,000 – $236,500, plus eligibility for short- and long-term incentive programs.
