BASIC FUNCTIONS
The Project Engineering Specialist is a strategic marriage of the responsibilities of a Project Manager and Project Engineer. This specialist is responsible for managing various fulfillment and operations aspects of building automation projects. Responsibilities span a broad spectrum, covering all the areas of project management, including – project planning (coordination of detailed cost estimates, schedules and associated RFI’s, RFP’s, RFQ’s), cost management, time management, quality management, contract administration, safety management and reporting project status. Projects typically involve managing controls systems technicians, andmechanical and electrical sub-contractors. Responsible for hardware and software implementation activities for building automation systems. Applies engineering principles and practices for work on assigned projects. Execute cost effective control solutions to meet project requirements.
PROJECT ENGINEERING SPECIALIST RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform a key role in project planning, budgeting and identification of resources needed.
Enter project information into company management software (NetSuite and Trello).
Prepare material take-off lists, vendor orders, change orders and processing the receipt of equipment and material packing slips.
Procurement of project equipment, components and control devices.
Optimum utilization of resources (labor, materials and equipment) and ensuring their procurement at most cost-effective terms.
Attend project meetings with customers, subcontractors, and technicians (including weekly construction meetings when applicable).
Oversee the project from start to finish.
Develop and deliver progress reports, and requirements documentation.
Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises and devise contingency plans.
Project accounting functions include managing the budget, tracking of expenses, change orders and minimizing exposure and risk in the project.
Ensure that project activities move according to pre-determined schedule.
Communicate effectively with the contractors responsible for completing various phases of the project.
Coordinate the efforts of all parties involved in the project, which include consultants, contractors, sub-contractors, and technicians.
Assists with technician work orders and prioritizing tasks.
Assists field technicians with various jobsite tasks (e.g., delivery of equipment and material to the jobsite).
Monitor the progress of the field activities on a regular basis and hold regular status meetings with all the sub-teams.
Maintain strict adherence to the budgetary guidelines, quality and safety standards.
Ensure project documents are complete and accurate.
Responsible for implementation activities utilizing direct digital controls, electronic comfort control and automation systems.
Applies knowledge of engineering principles and practices.Validates the engineered bill of material costs.
Responsible for installation drawings, submittal drawings, as-built drawings and final validation of system operation.
Provides engineering direction and support to other team members.
Reviews equipment submittals for incorporation into design.
Negotiates and oversees required material and outside purchases.Generates operation & maintenance manuals.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in engineering, construction management or equivalent education, training and experience.
Experience: 0-5 years direct work experience in building automation systems capacity, including all aspects of process development.
