We operate four popular cafes in Marin and have a wholesale production division making flatbread crackers, cookies and crisps in Petaluma with products sold nationally by fine retailers throughout the US. POSITION SUMMARY
Provides high level service of Baking and follows procedures accordingly. Assists and helps monitor baking across all production throughout the shift. Works with Lead and Operators to ensure Quality of product is met. Senior Baker rotates throughout several tasks and are responsible for the completion of all assigned production tasks, including sheeting, cutting, and baking operations, while adhering to food safety and quality procedures. Must be trained in all GMP and Food Safety protocols. Knowledge of Oven equipment and operations. Follows safety protocols. Regularly scheduled hours will be 9:00pm or 10:00pm to 5:30 or 6:30am, Sunday through Thursday (and Friday during busy season, the 6th day will qualify for overtime). All third shift positions earn an extra $1.00/hour in addition to the base rate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operates and manages Baking operations across scheduled skews.
- Responsible for ensuring all bakers adhere to timed baking procedures.
- Operates Ovens and follows guidelines for baking.
- Rotates through several tasks including loading raw product, moving product through manufacturing process on automated equipment, operating automated equipment, inspecting product, and unloading finished product into bins.
- Visually inspects product for quality, quantity, and appearance and makes adjustments as needed.
- Reports all equipment issues to the supervisor in a timely manner.
- Understands and follows all safety policies and procedures.
- Maintains a safe and clean environment.
- Maintains a positive demeanor toward all coworkers and supervisors.
- Understands and adheres to all Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMP), food safety and sanitation standards.
- Aware of CCP and Company preventive controls to ensure food safety regulations.
- This position takes direction from the Production Lead and provides backup when they’re not available.
- Performs other related duties as required.
SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS
- Able to follow oral and written instruction.
- Has shown exceptional baking skills
- Ability to complete tasks with accuracy.
- Able to consistently follow all safety requirements.
- Able to work overtime, weekends and holidays as scheduled.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 1 year baking experienced required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Continually required to stand and walk; stands during entire shift.
- Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity; repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and fingers.
- Frequently reaches, bends, stoops, lifts, carries, and pushes.
- Regularly required to twist and turn body while standing.
- Occasionally required to climb, balance, kneel or crawl.
- Continually required to talk or hear.
- Continually utilize visual acuity to operate equipment and manipulate product.
- Regularly required to lift/push/carry items up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Regularly required to work near moving mechanical parts.
- Regular exposure to heat or cold.
- Regular exposure to moderate to loud noise consistent with a manufacturing operation.
- Ability to work Sunday through Thursdays (and Fridays during the busy season), overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
