Job summary

A senior system engineer is responsible for defining and managing the system requirements, architecture, and design of a project, as well as coordinating the system integration, testing, and verification. A senior system engineer also provides technical guidance and support to the project team, stakeholders, and customers, and ensures that the system meets the performance, quality, and reliability standards. A senior system engineer may also be involved in research and development, innovation, and improvement of system engineering processes and methods.

• Providing system-level engineering support and expertise to a cross-functional team.
• Providing preliminary solutions to engineering problems of moderate scope and complexity in an expeditious, efficient, and timely manner.
• Researches, designs, implements, and tests technology solutions
• Troubleshoots software and/or hardware issues/failures
• Collects and presents data for reporting and planning
• Design, implement and maintain the organization's computer systems and networks, including servers, storage systems, and network infrastructure
• Manage and maintain the organization's security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, and security information and event management systems
• Stay up to date with the latest technology trends and advancements in the field and make recommendations for upgrades and improvements
• Support continuous improvement of systems engineering, user experience, and agile development processes
• Assess complex projects with a variety of requirements quickly, correctly prioritize tasks, provide accurate time estimates, and complete tasks in a timely manner while communicating changes and updates
• Functions as a technical expert for the implementation and operational support
• Troubleshoot workstation/server related problems and quickly resolve issue
• Other duties, responsibilities and qualifications may be required and/or assigned as necessary.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic software development principles - configuration control, collaborative development, formal processes
• Experience in reading and developing algorithm descriptions, mathematical expressions and derivations, matrix manipulations, outlier analysis, and system level analysis
• Experience performing data analysis and problem solving (e.g. anomaly investigation)
• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or university and five (5) years' experience in the Systems Engineering field.
• Proficiency in SharePoint, MS Project, and Excel.
