You will work on complex data engineering challenges, optimizing databases, pipelines, and cloud-based infrastructure.
The position requires strong ownership, technical expertise, and a passion for building reliable, high-performing systems.
You will collaborate closely with software engineers, analytics teams, and business stakeholders to deliver impactful data solutions.
As a senior contributor, you will influence architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and establish engineering best practices.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced data professional who enjoys solving challenging problems in a remote-first environment.

  • Developing efficient relational data models to support applications, integrations, reporting, and future business needs.
  • Optimizing database performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, execution plan analysis, partitioning, and configuration improvements.
  • Troubleshooting complex production issues involving databases, replication, storage, infrastructure, and application performance.
  • Building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration solutions that enable reliable data movement across systems.
  • Developing cloud-based data solutions using AWS services such as RDS, Lambda, S3, EventBridge, IAM, and CloudWatch.
  • Improving platform reliability through monitoring, alerting, automation, backup strategies, disaster recovery, and operational tooling.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert for database technologies and guiding engineering teams on data architecture best practices.
  • Reviewing database changes, migrations, and application designs to ensure scalability, security, and maintainability.
  • Mentoring junior data engineers through technical coaching, design reviews, and knowledge sharing.
  • Communicating technical decisions through documentation, architecture discussions, and cross-functional collaboration.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced data engineering professional with strong database expertise, cloud knowledge, and the ability to solve complex technical challenges independently. Required qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 4–7 years of experience in Data Engineering, Database Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field with significant database responsibilities.
  • Advanced expertise with PostgreSQL, including performance optimization, schema design, indexing, query tuning, and database administration.
  • Strong understanding of relational database concepts, normalization, data modeling, and scalable database architecture.
  • Experience designing and supporting highly available, fault-tolerant production database environments.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration solutions.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with at least one programming language such as Python, C#, Go, or similar.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services including RDS, Lambda, S3, EventBridge, IAM, and CloudWatch.
  • Understanding of ORM technologies and how application architecture impacts database performance.
  • Ability to debug complex issues across applications, databases, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of software architecture principles and scalable data platform design.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and make sound technical decisions with limited supervision.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
  • Consistent access to reliable high-speed internet and a dedicated workspace suitable for remote work.

Nice-to-have qualifications:

  • Experience with data warehousing platforms and modern analytical data environments.
  • Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, or dbt.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures, streaming technologies, or messaging platforms such as Kafka or Debezium.
  • Experience supporting AI, machine learning, or large language model workloads through scalable data infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, and data cataloging practices.
  • Experience optimizing AWS/RDS costs.
  • Background working in financial technology or other regulated industries.
  • Experience leading cross-functional technical initiatives or acting as a technical lead.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary range of $105,000–$125,000, based on experience and qualifications.
  • Full-time, direct-hire position with a 100% remote work model.
  • Comprehensive employee benefits package designed to support personal and professional well-being.
  • Opportunity to work on impactful software products serving millions of businesses.
  • Collaborative, high-trust culture focused on ownership, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Professional growth opportunities through technical leadership, mentoring, and challenging engineering projects.
  • Flexible remote environment with opportunities to contribute to modern cloud and data technologies.
