Job Description

Purpose:

Knox College seeks a technologically savvy, resourceful, and driven individual to join

the Student Financial Services team. Members of our team work with prospective and

current students and their families, assisting them in applying for financial aid, managing

the costs of college, and guiding them toward successful completion of a Knox degree.

Summary of the position:

The Student Financial Services Advisor supports prospective and current students by providing financial aid counseling, assisting with financial aid applications, monitoring student accounts, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations. The role includes evaluating financial aid eligibility, resolving account and application discrepancies, conducting financial aid workshops, collaborating with campus partners to support student enrollment and retention, and delivering exceptional customer service while helping students navigate the financial aspects of their education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual counseling to students and families regarding financial aid options
  • Monitor student account information and conduct any necessary outreach to resolve outstanding information or balances
  • Assist students in completing financial aid applications and related documentation
  • Evaluate and process financial aid applications to determine eligibility for aid
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations
  • Develop and conduct financial aid workshops and presentations for students and parents
  • Collaborate with other campus departments related to student enrollment, billing, retention, etc.
  • Monitor and manage student financial aid packages to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Provide general guidance on budgeting and financial management to help students make informed financial decisions
  • Respond to inquiries from students, parents, and staff regarding financial aid policies and procedures
  • Assist in the development and implementation of financial aid policies and procedures
  • Identify and resolve any discrepancies in student financial aid applications or awards

  • Willingness to work additional hours during peak financial aid processing and student billing seasons

  • Minimum Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • Minimum Experience Required:

  • Experience in a related field
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with student accounts, billing, and payment process
  • Summary Pay Range: Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance, and experience. Please note that pay is only one component of total compensation.
