Position Summary
The EDM Set-Up Technician / Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) equipment while producing precision components that meet customer quality, delivery, and productivity requirements.
This position supports the implementation, daily operation, and long-term growth of CoreDux USA's EDM Manufacturing Department by ensuring safe, efficient, and repeatable manufacturing processes while supporting continuous improvement and manufacturing excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Set up and operate Wire EDM equipment according to manufacturing documentation, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
• Verify machine setups and perform first-piece inspections prior to production.
• Produce precision components that meet engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, customer specifications, and quality standards.
• Monitor machining operations and make approved machine offsets to maintain dimensional compliance.
• Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring equipment.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, process documentation, and work instructions.
• Replace wire, filters, dielectric fluid, and other EDM consumables as required.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and daily equipment care.
• Work with the Maintenance Department to support preventive maintenance activities and maximize machine uptime.
• Assist with fixture setup, workholding, tooling improvements, and process optimization.
• Support new job setups, prove-outs, and production readiness.
• Support First Article Inspection (FAI), production validation, and customer quality requirements.
• Assist with installation, startup, and qualification of new EDM equipment.
• Assist in establishing standardized setup procedures, tooling methods, and manufacturing best practices to support the continued growth of the EDM Manufacturing Department.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Follow all company safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Technical school, machining certificate, or apprenticeship preferred.
• Minimum three (3) years of machining experience.
• Minimum two (2) years of Wire EDM setup and operation experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing documentation.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, indicators, bore gauges, and height gauges.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
• Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience operating Makino, Mitsubishi, Sodick, Agie, Charmilles, or similar Wire EDM equipment.
• Experience with EDM Hole Drilling equipment.
• Experience with Sinker EDM equipment.
• Experience machining aerospace, semiconductor, medical, or other high-precision components.
• Experience working in an AS9100-certified manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement principles.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to work safely around industrial machinery.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
