Job Description

Job Summary

The Patient Access Manager for Physician Services provides operational leadership and oversight for patient access functions across UMC El Paso Healthcare, Inc. physician practices. Responsible for ensuring efficient patient scheduling, registration, insurance verification, referral management, prior authorization coordination, financial clearance, and exceptional customer service while supporting organizational goals related to access, revenue cycle performance, patient satisfaction, and provider productivity. Collaborates with clinical, operational, revenue cycle, and physician leadership to improve patient access, standardize workflows, and enhance the overall patient experience.

Minimum Job Requirements

Work Experience:

Three years of leadership experience, overseeing multiple departments, service lines, or organizational divisions. Experience leading Physician Services, hospital operations, ambulatory services, or physician practice operations within an integrated healthcare system or public hospital system is required.

License/Registration/Certification:

None

Education and Training:

Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, Nursing, or a related field is required. Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, or a related field is preferred.

Skills:

  1. Knowledge of physician practice operations and ambulatory workflows, including clinic throughput and care coordination.
  2. Knowledge of patient access functions, including scheduling, registration, insurance verification, referral management, and prior authorization processes.
  3. Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement principles and front-end revenue cycle operations, including impact on billing accuracy and claim outcomes.
  4. Knowledge of CMS, Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer requirements, including eligibility and documentation standards.
  5. Strong leadership and team development skills, with ability to supervise, coach, and evaluate staff performance in a multi-site environment.
  6. Excellent customer service and patient relations skills, with a focus on improving patient access, satisfaction, and experience.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with capability to identify operational gaps and implement solutions.
  8. Ability to interpret and apply operational and financial performance data, including access metrics, productivity, and denial trends.
  9. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to collaborate with physicians, leadership, and cross-functional teams.
  10. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency.
