In this remote role, you'll design and optimize scalable platform services, automate deployment pipelines, and strengthen security throughout the software delivery lifecycle. Working closely with developers, platform engineers, and government stakeholders, you'll help deliver resilient containerized solutions that prioritize performance, compliance, and reliability. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced DevSecOps professional who thrives in complex technical environments and enjoys solving infrastructure challenges with automation and modern cloud technologies.
- Design, build, and maintain secure CI/CD pipelines using GitLab to streamline application deployment and delivery.
- Support the migration of legacy repositories and development workflows from BitBucket to GitLab while ensuring minimal disruption.
- Provision, deploy, and manage infrastructure across AWS GovCloud, hybrid cloud, edge, and government network environments using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
- Manage Kubernetes clusters, containerized workloads, and Helm charts to ensure scalable, resilient, and highly available platform services.
- Implement automated backup, disaster recovery, and resilience testing processes for container orchestration environments.
- Integrate automated security scanning, compliance validation, and Authority to Operate (ATO) support into the software delivery pipeline.
- Develop automated hardening processes for Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems and execute security compliance activities, including STIG implementation.
- Build monitoring, logging, alerting, and reporting capabilities while managing secrets, encryption keys, and secure identity integrations across the platform.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and government stakeholders to continuously improve platform performance, security, and operational efficiency.
- Active U.S. Secret security clearance or higher (required).
- Eligibility to work on U.S. Government programs, with U.S. citizenship required.
- DoD 8570/8140 baseline certification (such as CompTIA Security+ CE) or equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience as a DevSecOps Engineer, Platform Engineer, or similar role within federal, defense, or highly regulated environments.
- Strong expertise with AWS GovCloud and hybrid cloud infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience administering Kubernetes clusters and developing custom Helm charts.
- Advanced proficiency with GitLab CI/CD pipelines, including repository migration from BitBucket.
- Strong experience with Terraform, Ansible, infrastructure automation, and Infrastructure as Code practices.
- Solid Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration and scripting experience.
- Knowledge of secure identity and access management technologies, including SAML, OAuth2, and OpenID Connect.
- Proficiency in Python or another scripting/programming language.
- Automation-first mindset with a strong focus on security, compliance, and operational excellence.
- Preferred qualifications include AWS certifications, Kubernetes certifications (CKA/CKAD), experience supporting U.S. Navy programs, IL5+ environments, or a Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Fully remote position within the United States.
- Competitive annual salary ranging from $125,000 to $175,000, based on experience, qualifications, location, and security clearance.
- Opportunity to work on mission-critical government technology initiatives with modern cloud and DevSecOps tools.
- Exposure to cutting-edge cloud, Kubernetes, automation, and security technologies.
- Collaborative engineering environment focused on innovation, continuous improvement, and mission success.
- Opportunities for professional growth, advanced technical challenges, and certification development.
- Occasional travel to support project and customer requirements.
