Job Description

Description:

Engagement: 1099 Independent Contractor / Project-Based
Location: Remote
Start: Immediate
Schedule: Full-time, Part time, short-term contract engagement
Expected Duration: Approximately 1–2 months, depending on project requirements, revision cycles, and pace of completion

PCG Consulting is seeking an experienced Advanced Articulate Storyline Instructional Designer for an immediate, remote contract engagement supporting a long-standing client. This is a hands-on Storyline production and enhancement role focused on updating and refining an existing, complex eLearning course.

The selected designer will work from established Storyline source files and client-provided revisions rather than developing a course entirely from the ground up. Because of the complexity of the existing course, we are looking for someone with advanced, demonstrated Articulate Storyline expertise who can quickly step into work originally developed by another designer, understand how the course has been constructed, make sophisticated updates, troubleshoot functionality, and deliver a highly polished final product.

This is a short-term, full-time 1099 engagement, expected to last approximately one to two months, depending on project requirements and revision cycles. The client is seeking an accelerated completion timeline, so candidates should have the availability to dedicate substantial working hours to the project.

Responsibilities
  • Revise, enhance, and complete an existing Articulate Storyline course using client-provided content, edits, and feedback
  • Quickly assess and work within an existing Storyline course structure and source files originally developed by another designer
  • Make advanced updates to course functionality, including triggers, layers, states, variables, interactions, branching, and navigation, as required
  • Update text, graphics, layouts, interactive elements, and other course components while maintaining the client's established look and feel
  • Improve visual presentation, formatting, consistency, usability, and overall learner experience where appropriate
  • Troubleshoot existing Storyline functionality and resolve issues affecting course performance or learner navigation
  • Maintain instructional, visual, and functional consistency throughout a complex course
  • Incorporate detailed client feedback and multiple revision cycles accurately and efficiently
  • Update related materials, including Learner Guides, participant materials, or supporting documentation, when included in the project scope
  • Conduct thorough quality-assurance reviews before each client submission, including content, formatting, navigation, triggers, interactions, functionality, and completeness
  • Test the completed course to ensure all functionality performs as intended
  • Prepare organized, complete Storyline source files and publish-ready deliverables
  • Communicate proactively regarding project status, questions, technical issues, revision requirements, and deadlines
  • Work independently and manage priorities effectively within an accelerated project timeline
Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is more than a general instructional designer who has used Storyline periodically. We are seeking someone who is highly skilled and hands-on in Articulate Storyline, comfortable navigating complex existing files, technically strong enough to troubleshoot sophisticated interactions, and detail-oriented enough to confidently deliver client-ready work.

You should be able to enter an established project, quickly understand how it was built, identify what needs to change, execute revisions accurately, and move the work toward completion with minimal ramp-up time.

Requirements: Required Qualifications
  • Advanced hands-on proficiency with Articulate Storyline
  • Demonstrated experience developing, revising, or substantially enhancing complex Storyline courses
  • Experience successfully taking over and modifying Storyline projects originally developed by another instructional designer
  • Strong working knowledge of Storyline functionality, including triggers, states, layers, variables, interactions, branching, and navigation
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to identify and resolve issues within existing Storyline builds
  • Strong visual-design and instructional-design capabilities
  • Ability to maintain an established design system and look and feel while identifying appropriate opportunities for improvement
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a demonstrated personal quality-assurance process
  • Ability to interpret and accurately execute detailed client feedback
  • Ability to manage multiple revisions efficiently without sacrificing quality or consistency
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Reliable responsiveness, follow-through, and ability to meet agreed-upon deadlines
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Availability to dedicate full-time hours during this short-term engagement
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing, updating, testing, and publishing SCORM-compatible eLearning
  • Experience working with advanced Storyline interactions or highly customized course functionality
  • Experience creating or updating Learner Guides, participant materials, facilitator materials, or related training documentation
  • Experience supporting corporate, nonprofit, government, healthcare, education, or professional-training clients
  • Experience working directly with clients or consulting teams in deadline-driven environments
  • Experience managing multiple rounds of client revisions under accelerated timelines
