Job Description

Position Summary

Offshore Aviation Group (OAG) is seeking a qualified and safety-focused Qualified Member of the Engine Department (QMED) to support the operation, maintenance, and repair of machinery and equipment aboard company vessels.

The QMED works under the direction of the Chief Engineer and/or Assistant Engineer and assists with maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient vessel operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of vessel machinery and engineering systems.
  • Perform routine inspections of engines, generators, pumps, piping systems, and other engine room equipment.
  • Monitor machinery operating conditions and promptly report abnormalities or deficiencies.
  • Perform preventive maintenance in accordance with vessel and company maintenance schedules.
  • Assist with fueling, lubrication, fluid transfers, and other engine department operations.
  • Maintain engine rooms, machinery spaces, tools, and equipment in a clean and safe condition.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and operational records as assigned.
  • Follow all OAG safety procedures and applicable maritime regulations.
  • Participate in vessel drills, emergency response activities, and assigned safety duties.
  • Perform engine room watches and other duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer.
Required Qualifications
  • Valid U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) with an appropriate QMED endorsement.
  • STCW Basic Training must be current and reflected on the candidate's Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC), as applicable.
  • Valid STCW Medical Certificate.
  • Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Valid U.S. Passport or authorization/documentation required for assigned vessel operations and travel.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements associated with vessel and engine room operations.
  • Ability to work safely in confined spaces, around machinery, and in varying marine conditions.
  • Must be dependable, safety-conscious, and capable of working effectively as part of a vessel crew.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous commercial, offshore, government, or military vessel experience.
  • Experience with diesel engines, generators, electrical systems, pumps, hydraulics, and auxiliary machinery.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and preventive maintenance skills.

This position may be offered as a W-2 position based on assignment and operational requirements. Eligible W-2 employees may participate in OAG's benefits programs in accordance with applicable plan requirements.
