Job Description
Position Description: Job Title: Automation Product Specialist
Reports to: CRO
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The primary duty of the Automation Product Specialist is to: Serve, grow, enhance and protect Lampton business.
It’s critical to build strong relationships with, and work very closely with, Lampton customers. Strong and consistent collaboration with the entire Lampton sales team and sales leadership is required. Specific desired outcomes are to: Expand overall automation/productivity and complex weld products sales, continuously improve overall residual product margins, introduce, and sell productivity enhancement products, secure business with long term consumable supply agreements, expand the Lampton automation/productivity and complex weld product sales profile, while taking excellent care of our expanding complex weld and weld process customer base.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build and maintain strong relationships with both potential and existing customers, serving their various automation/productivity and complex weld process needs, as required.
- Understand and be able to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of automation/productivity and complex weld process products we sell (features and benefits).
- Consistently review and report on sales calls, sales outcomes and sales opportunities to the Executive VP of Sales.
- Create an annual automation/productivity and complex weld process sales plan to improve the business in four key areas: (serve, grow, enhance and protect)
- Maintain a specified minimum level of margin for the automation/productivity and complex weld process business portfolio.
- Consistently present automation/productivity and complex weld process products to competitive accounts and existing accounts where appropriate.
- Work closely with other product managers and appropriate vendors to grow and enhance the automation/productivity and complex weld process portfolio
- Understand the nature and strength of the competitive business forces within the markets served, and act accordingly to defend Lampton business.
- Secure Lampton business through the use of product supply agreements.
- Help support and communicate price increases to the automation/productivity and complex weld process customer base, as needed.
- Maintain strong vendor relationships and work closely with key automation/productivity and complex weld process vendor partners
- Continuously work to sell the products which align Lampton with key vendor partners and deliver the highest level of margin
- Collect and maintain a roster of automation/productivity and complex weld process customers’ digital contact information.
- Collect and maintain a roster of automation/productivity and complex weld process customers’ target information.
- Support industry shows, training seminars, or other local area events as deemed valuable for the automation/productivity and complex weld process portfolio
- Research, present, and create potential new products sales plans to the business.
- Report critical automation/productivity and complex weld process sales events (major wins, major losses, substantial competitive threats, sizeable opportunities) to the Executive VP of Sales.
- Attend appropriate product, skills, and industry trainings, as deemed valuable and appropriate.
- Maintain excellence in the area of operational discipline regarding all safety practices; follow all company safety policies.
- Work closely with the supporting cast for automation/productivity and complex weld process products, including but not limited to: supply agreement manager, plant manager, cryo technicians, pricing manager, and others where applicable.
- Complete appropriate paperwork and electronic reporting, as required.
- Meet or exceed the annual sales objectives in specialty gas categories.
- Perform other tasks as assigned or needed.

- Bilingual skills a plus
- Ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity (processing paperwork, etc.)
- Previous welding supply, automation, productivity and/or weld process sales experience and/or product management is required
Education or Experience Required:
- High school graduate or equivalent, college degree preferred
License or Certificate Required:
- Valid Driver’s License
