If you take pride in hands-on work that makes a real difference to the people who live, learn, and work around you, this is a role worth exploring. As a Maintenance Technician within the Facilities department, you'll carry out skilled building maintenance and repair work across Lehigh's distinctive campus. Working under general supervision, you'll apply broad maintenance knowledge to deliver reliable, high-quality outcomes — and at times, you'll manage tasks independently, drawing on your own expertise to get the job done.

  • Identify maintenance issues promptly and carry out effective repairs with minimal rework
  • Interpret and action work orders accurately, ensuring tasks are completed to standard
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to reduce unplanned failures
  • Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner, minimizing disruption to campus operations
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and any follow-up requirements
  • Operate independently when required, prioritizing safety and quality throughout
  • Collaborate with Facilities colleagues to coordinate scheduling and share technical knowledge

What You'll Bring

  • High School Diploma or Ged; Associates or Vocational/Technical degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three to five years of work related experience
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record
  • Demonstrated experience in building maintenance or a closely related trade
  • Solid working knowledge of general maintenance and repair procedures across multiple disciplines
  • Ability to read work orders and apply the right materials and tools for each job
  • Comfort working both within a team and independently with minimal oversight
  • A methodical approach to problem-solving on the job
  • Familiarity with safety protocols in a facilities or institutional environment
