Job Description
Purchasing Manager is responsible for setting directions and executing day-to-day operations associated with materials management and logistics. This position reports to the VP of Manufacturing and includes managing and developing a team of employees. You will establish inventory requirements, negotiate vendor contracts, research & provide buying options, and be responsible for maintaining inventory levels at required levels.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS
- Establish inventory requirements based on a combination of factors including vendor lead time, manufacturing operating tempo and new product introductions.
- Partner with Scheduling, Manufacturing and Engineering departments when developing material and inventory management plans.
- Manage vendor relationships and monitor performance of current vendors (cost, quality, delivery), as well as source new vendors to obtain the best value and minimize supply chain risks.
- Review and approve purchase orders and requisitions for materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Apply best practices to inventory management to minimize inventory shrink and order fulfillment errors.
- Ensure the reliability of applicable inventory and PO data in the ERP system, including management of the cycle counting and annual, physical inventory process.
- Manage the processes associated with packaging and shipping finished products to customers which include negotiating and coordinating with freight carriers and warehousing firms.
- Track and report key functional metrics to measure the overall effectiveness of the material management and logistics function.
- Manage the Purchasing, Receiving, Warehouse, and Shipping teams.
- Apply a continuous improvement approach in all aspects of the teams’ responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Accounting, or another relevant field.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in management with oversight of materials and logistics, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
