Job Description
This position is responsible for control of inventory, data input, and distribution of supplies and equipment throughout the hospital. Duties include stocking inventory carts, sorting and filling requisitions, assisting shipping and receiving when needed, responding to supply requests, preparing audits of supply usage, and verifying daily charges against computer reports. The ideal candidate will possess a can-do attitude with a strong customer service orientation. 4–6 months' prior hospital or related experience preferred. Must have good interpersonal skills, be able to work in a fast-paced environment, and be able to lift and transport items of up to 100 lbs. This is a physically demanding job requiring constant mobility throughout the entire hospital. High school diploma or equivalent required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement space-saving plans, inventory designs and executes strategies to fulfill warehouse needs.
- Responds to the effectiveness and productivity of MDC staff through continual communication and performance assistance.
- Maintains general shipping and receiving log books; receives and unloads freight;
- Checks for damaged goods.
- Verifies quantity and quality of order; verifies items received with the purchase order;
- Wraps, packages, and ships supplies.
- Delivers and retrieves supplies to and from storage areas; issues supplies to the proper department.
- Ensures that the Material Distribution Center provides excellent customer service to both patients and hospital departments.
- Answers phones and provides information using customer service skills.
- Show the ability to prioritize and delegate. Uses critical thinking and brainstorming to resolve issues. Completes required follow-up.
- Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and to function under stressful situations, and work independently.
- Maintains inventory records by adding or deleting supplies as they are shipped or received.
- Coordinate disposal of products and manage records retention.
- Assists with warehouse stock data management to ensure proper billing and record keeping practices.
- Ensures timely and accurate input of all freight information through the Inventory Management System regarding carriers (i.e. FedEx Express, FedEx Ground, UPS Ground, other courier carriers).
- Operates a personal computer to access, enter, and correct information (i.e. Meditech, Materials Management).
- Maintaining outstanding customer service standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of outstanding customer service.
- Participates in physical inventories of warehouse.
- Maintain equipment. (Maintain Materials Management equipment in standard/optimal conditions for easier workflows, i.e. scanner/tablet – stepladders, utility carts, flat carts)
EDUCATION AND RELATED EXPERIENCE
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Four to six months minimum hospital or related experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and lift heavy objects.
