This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Technical Writer based in United States.

This role supports strategic communications and documentation for a major federal healthcare technology modernization program. You will transform complex policy, workforce, informatics, and health IT concepts into clear, accurate, and accessible materials for executive and governance audiences. Working alongside senior leaders, clinicians, technical teams, operational stakeholders, and government clients, you will help ensure critical information is understood and actionable. The position combines technical writing, executive communications, editing, document governance, and stakeholder coordination. You will contribute to high-visibility deliverables that support modernization, organizational change, and effective decision-making. This is an opportunity to apply strong communication skills to a large-scale healthcare transformation initiative with meaningful public-sector impact.

Accountabilities:

You will develop and manage high-quality communications and documentation while ensuring materials meet federal standards, governance requirements, accessibility expectations, and evolving program needs.

  • Develop, edit, and maintain federal healthcare policy documentation in accordance with Veterans Health Administration (VHA) directive formats, federal writing standards, and governance approval processes.
  • Translate complex workforce analysis, staffing models, organizational design concepts, and informatics modernization content into clear and concise materials for executive leadership and governance stakeholders.
  • Produce policy, strategy, workforce planning, and other program documents that support federal review, coordination, and approval activities.
  • Perform comprehensive editing, proofreading, and quality assurance reviews to ensure accuracy, consistency, clarity, and professional presentation.
  • Manage document version control, review cycles, and artifact traceability across multiple concurrent workstreams and Program Increments (PIs).
  • Coordinate document revisions and incorporate stakeholder feedback to maintain alignment with changing program requirements and governance decisions.
  • Prepare and format workforce modernization materials for publication in accordance with VA Informatics Compass (VIC) content standards, publishing requirements, and accessibility guidelines.
  • Maintain document repositories and supporting records to meet federal documentation, records management, and audit readiness requirements.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders, clinicians, technical teams, operational stakeholders, and government clients to gather information and ensure communications effectively support program objectives.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced technical and strategic communicator who can simplify complex subject matter while maintaining precision, compliance, and an executive-level standard of presentation. You should be comfortable working independently across multiple priorities and collaborating with diverse stakeholders in a complex federal healthcare environment.

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Political Science, Public Health, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of professional experience in consulting, strategic communications, executive communications, stakeholder engagement, healthcare communications, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting complex federal government initiatives, preferably within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or Veterans Health Administration (VHA).
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and executive communications skills.
  • Knowledge of AP Style, Section 508 accessibility requirements, and federal plain-language standards.
  • Experience developing executive-level presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Record modernization, health IT modernization, clinical informatics, or enterprise transformation initiatives preferred.
  • Familiarity with healthcare operations, clinical workflows, and health IT systems preferred.
  • Experience with SharePoint content management, communications analytics, and enterprise collaboration tools preferred.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies, organizational change management, and stakeholder engagement strategies is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Benefits:

  • Full-time, remote position.
  • Opportunity to contribute to a large-scale federal healthcare and Electronic Health Record modernization initiative.
  • Work alongside senior leadership, clinicians, technical teams, operational stakeholders, and government clients.
  • Exposure to strategic communications, executive messaging, health IT modernization, organizational change, and federal program delivery.
  • Opportunity to contribute to high-visibility policy, strategy, and workforce modernization deliverables.
  • Mission-driven environment focused on improving healthcare services and experiences for Veterans.
  • Public-sector consulting experience within a complex healthcare transformation program.
