The Atlanta University Center (AUC) Robert W. Woodruff Library is seeking an organized and proactive Head of Public Services. The Head of Public Services will oversee the public service operations, user experience strategy, customer service model development and the implementation of innovative technology resources and planning.

What We Require for the Head of Public Service Role:
- Master Degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) from an ALA-accredited institution or a related advanced degree in relevant field.
- Minimum three to five years of progressively responsible experience in academic library, learning commons or similar environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading public services operations and/or user-centered service initiatives.
- Experience supervising professional staff and managing teams.
- Experience developing customer service models or user experience strategies.
- Experience managing or supporting technology-rich learning environments, makerspaces, or digital labs.
Preferred Experience & Credentials:
- Experience establishing or leading a User Experience (UES) program or team.
- Experience managing makerspace technologies (e.g., 3D printing, media production tools).
- Experience developing programming that integrates technology into teaching and learning.
- Experience working in a consortium, multi-institutional, or HBCU environment.
- Familiarity with assessment frameworks and service design methodologies
Key Job Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the Assistant Director of Public Services and Academic Engagement, provides supervision, strategic direction, and leadership for the User Experience Team and public services points
- Provide direct supervision to oversee the management, operation, and strategic development of the Technology Design Studio and associated audio-visual labs and creative spaces.
- Implement staffing models, workflows, and service standards that align with user needs and institutional priorities.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Director to align public services with broader academic engagement strategies such as research and reference services and student success services
- Implement customer service frameworks that promote consistency, accessibility, and inclusivity at all public services points in the Library
- Manage and maintain public technology resources, including Windows and Apple computers, productivity and creative software, multimedia workstations, recording studios, audiovisual equipment, and 3D printers, to support teaching, learning, research, and creative production.
