**The expectation for this role is weekdays with the potential to work some weekends.**

  • Provide clients, visitors, professionals, and staff going to and from Hazelden a safe and secure means of transportation as efficiently and promptly as possible.
  • Provide primary office coverage at the Transportation desk.
  • Coordinate patient transportation needs for arrivals, discharges, and special circumstances
  • Communicate patient transportation needs with clinical staff
  • Check for transportation orders within MyAvatar and coordinate coverage.
  • As needed, provide scheduled, non-scheduled, and emergency transportation to patients, clients, staff, workshop participants, and visitors to and from airport, bus depots, train depots, motels, clinics, dentists, halfway houses, hospitals.
  • Responsible for professional driving and safety measures always while representing Hazelden.
  • Assess the situations that may occur with Hazelden clients while in the drivers care to assure safe transport.
  • Coordinate and implement a patient vehicle search when requested with Department Lead or Manager.
  • Provide transportation of medical and related materials.
  • Maintain department written documentation following defined procedures
  • Coordinate vehicle maintenance needs with associated vendors and departments.
  • Provide backup administrative coverage

Required Qualifications:

  • High school or equivalent
  • Experience in transportation department operations
  • Current Driver’s License in good standing
    • Insurance requires that individuals in this role have no major motor vehicle violations within the past 3 years
    • Insurance requires that individuals in this role have no capital violations within the last 5 years
  • Favorable Drivers Health Screen
  • Current CPR certification
    • Certification must be from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross
  • Defensive Driving certification (every two years)
  • Employees who are 65+ must provide annual physician’s statements confirming ability to drive in a safe manner.
  • Competency with MS Office Applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 12 Step Knowledge
  • Class B license
  • Vocational or Technical Training
