Manager, Accounts Receivable - Workers Compensation

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Manager, Accounts Receivable - Workers Compensation based in United States.

This is a fully remote leadership opportunity overseeing Accounts Receivable and billing operations within a healthcare revenue cycle environment.
You will lead a team responsible for driving timely, accurate reimbursement and effective management of outstanding accounts.
The role combines people leadership, performance management, process improvement, auditing, and cross-functional collaboration.
You will monitor key financial and operational metrics to identify trends, address challenges, and improve collections performance.
The position also plays an important role in strengthening policies, workflows, training programs, and quality standards.
Success requires a balance of operational discipline, sound judgment, customer service, and a strong commitment to confidentiality and compliance.

Accountabilities:
  • Provide daily direction and communication to Accounts Receivable team members and team leaders, including work assignments, payer updates, center additions, and new market initiatives.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop team members through ongoing coaching, training, feedback, performance reviews, and professional development.
  • Support interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and performance management activities in partnership with senior revenue cycle leadership.
  • Maintain high standards of customer service when working with Accounts Receivable specialists, payers, healthcare centers, patients, and internal stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain audit processes to assess the efficiency, accuracy, and completeness of outstanding Accounts Receivable management.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report key performance indicators such as days outstanding, accounts receivable over 90 days, and collections performance.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain departmental Accounts Receivable policies and procedures in collaboration with senior leadership.
  • Track and analyze department productivity, identify operational gaps, and implement process improvements to achieve or exceed performance objectives.
  • Help resolve service issues professionally, ensuring appropriate follow-through and timely resolution.
  • Handle sensitive patient and financial information with discretion while maintaining applicable confidentiality and compliance standards.
  • Collaborate across departments to align priorities, improve workflows, and support broader revenue cycle initiatives.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED required; a bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle operations, with a minimum of 3 years of progressive leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare Accounts Receivable, billing, reimbursement, and revenue cycle processes.
  • Experience with practice management systems; familiarity with hospital EMR platforms such as Epic and/or eClinicalWorks is preferred.
  • Ability to calculate patient responsibility, including deductibles and coinsurance, and interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs).
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), and International Classification of Diseases (ICD) coding.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Professional customer service skills and strong phone communication etiquette.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with patients and stakeholders regarding medical, financial, and policy-related matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, remain flexible, and maintain productivity in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of confidentiality requirements and the ability to appropriately handle sensitive information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • A collaborative, accountable, innovative, and ethical approach to leadership, with a demonstrated bias toward action and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment while maintaining team engagement, performance, and communication.
