Instructional Designer II

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Instructional Designer II based in United States.

This role offers an opportunity to shape engaging, high-quality online learning experiences within a collaborative academic innovation environment.
You will partner closely with faculty and academic stakeholders to design, develop, and continuously improve digital courses and instructional materials.
The position combines instructional design expertise with project coordination, quality assurance, and educational technology.
You will help establish and apply course development standards while ensuring learning experiences meet defined quality expectations.
The role also provides opportunities to mentor colleagues and contribute to innovative solutions that address evolving educational needs.
Working primarily in a remote setting, you will collaborate with a diverse team of instructional designers, technologists, developers, and media specialists.
Your work will directly contribute to effective online education and meaningful learning outcomes for a broad student population.

Accountabilities
  • Collaborate with senior instructional design leaders and academic representatives to establish, implement, and communicate course development standards, policies, and quality expectations.
  • Partner with remote faculty to develop and enhance high-quality online courses designed for adult learners across academic and non-credit programs.
  • Edit, organize, and structure digital content to create engaging and effective online learning experiences.
  • Coordinate the production or acquisition of instructional materials, including video, graphics, animations, interactive media, and other digital assets.
  • Build instructional materials within the Canvas learning management system in collaboration with faculty and other internal partners.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews of courses and instructional materials, identifying opportunities for improvement and ensuring established standards are met.
  • Coordinate course approval processes with academic department leadership following completion of course development.
  • Manage course review cycles, redevelopments, updates, project milestones, and production timelines to ensure deliverables are completed on schedule.
  • Monitor and communicate textbook-related issues that could affect course development or implementation.
  • Collaborate with internal instructional design and technology specialists on course development and related educational initiatives.
  • Mentor Instructional Designers I when needed and support training initiatives that strengthen team capabilities.
  • Contribute to research, professional development, conferences, training, and presentations related to instructional design and emerging educational practices.
Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of instructional design principles and the development of online learning experiences.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, academic leaders, instructional designers, technologists, and other cross-functional partners.
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple course development activities, timelines, and priorities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to instructional quality, consistency, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate standards, recommendations, and project information clearly.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems, particularly Canvas, and digital instructional technologies.
  • Ability to evaluate existing solutions, identify opportunities for innovation, and stay informed about trends in online education and instructional technology.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting the professional development of colleagues is advantageous.
  • An interest in educational research, conference participation, professional training, and presenting on instructional design topics is encouraged.
