Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Manager, Talent & People Operations, Claude Corps based in the United States.
As a Senior Manager, Talent & People Operations, you will lead the recruiting and employment operations that enable a rapidly scaling early-career technology fellowship. You’ll manage a team responsible for both high-volume talent acquisition and the full employee lifecycle, from candidate screening through onboarding and ongoing employee support. The role combines people leadership, recruiting operations, HR expertise, and hands-on program building. You’ll help scale a fellowship from an initial cohort of 100 participants toward thousands of fellows while maintaining quality, compliance, and an excellent candidate and employee experience. You’ll work closely with program leaders to address performance and employee relations matters and ensure employment processes run smoothly across multiple states. A major focus will be using AI and automation to increase operational leverage without compromising human judgment. This is an opportunity to build foundational people systems in a fast-moving, mission-driven environment focused on expanding access to opportunities in the AI economy.
- Lead and develop a pod of early-talent recruiters and fractional HR coordination support, setting priorities, managing capacity, coaching performance, and scaling team capabilities as fellowship cohorts grow.
- Own the recruiting funnel from application review through offer, ensuring screening and selection processes consistently meet program standards while maintaining hiring volume, quality, and a strong candidate experience.
- Manage the full employer-of-record lifecycle, including offers, electronic signatures, background checks, I-9 and work authorization processes, payroll setup, benefits enrollment, onboarding, and ongoing employee support.
- Establish efficient workflows for managing a growing workforce across multiple states, ensuring HR processes are timely, consistent, scalable, and compliant.
- Identify repetitive recruiting and HR operations that can be automated or AI-assisted, including resume screening, scheduling, candidate communications, document generation, compliance tracking, and cohort reporting.
- Establish appropriate boundaries between AI-assisted workflows and human decision-making, ensuring judgment-sensitive matters remain appropriately handled by people.
- Partner with program management on employee relations and performance matters, owning documentation, process consistency, employment decisions, and appropriate escalation while incorporating on-the-ground program context.
- Build repeatable systems and operating processes for screening, hiring, onboarding, HR service levels, compliance, reporting, and handoffs with program partners.
- Continuously evaluate the fractional support model, determining how resources should be allocated and making recommendations as program volume and complexity increase.
- Develop the pod’s capabilities, ownership, and operating model so that the team can support substantial cohort growth without requiring proportional increases in headcount.
- Maintain high standards for quality, compliance, candidate experience, and employee experience while operating at significant scale.
- 5+ years of combined experience across recruiting and HR or people operations, including meaningful ownership of both areas rather than specialization in only one.
- Demonstrated people-management experience, including managing through contractors, shared services, fractional resources, or other nontraditional team structures.
- Experience leading high-volume or early-career talent hiring programs, with ownership of screening processes, recruiting workflows, hiring timelines, and team capacity.
- Strong HR operations experience covering areas such as payroll, benefits, onboarding, employment compliance, and employee lifecycle management.
- Experience with employer-of-record, PEO, or multi-state employment environments is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to use AI in practical business workflows, with examples of automating, redesigning, or improving work through AI tools.
- Comfort with ATS and HRIS configuration, workflow automation, prompting, and technology-enabled recruiting and people operations.
- Experience handling employee relations and performance matters with sound judgment, consistency, discretion, and composure.
- Ability to build structure and repeatable processes within programs that are still evolving, without waiting for established systems or instructions.
- Strong operational judgment, with the ability to balance high hiring volumes and efficiency against quality, compliance, and candidate experience.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly when working across partner organizations with different processes, systems, and cultures.
- Highly proactive, hands-on, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, 0-to-1 environment.
- Strong commitment to expanding access to opportunities in the AI economy and supporting employees through a thoughtful, high-quality employment experience.
- $110,000–$150,000 annual salary.
- 100% remote position with the flexibility to work from anywhere in the United States.
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance with 90% employer coverage for employees and dependents.
- Employer-funded healthcare reimbursement.
- Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs).
- Employee Assistance Program.
- 401(k) plan.
- Employer-paid life and disability insurance.
- Identity theft protection.
- Generous paid time off and paid holidays.
- 10 weeks of fully paid parental leave.
- Annual year-end company closure from December 24 through January 2.
- $1,000 annual professional development stipend.
- Home office setup support.
- Eligibility for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).
- Pet wellness plans.
- Legal services and home/auto insurance discounts.
- Access to exclusive marketplace savings.
- Opportunity to contribute to a high-growth, mission-driven organization with significant social and economic impact.
- Inclusive environment that values diverse perspectives, ownership, initiative, and continuous improvement.
