Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Product Manager based in the United States.
This is an opportunity to lead the creation of innovative software products for the grocery retail and consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry.
You will own the full product journey, from customer discovery and problem validation through MVP development, launch, and first revenue.
Working in a fast-paced, early-stage environment, you’ll turn rich food intelligence and data assets into products customers genuinely value.
You’ll collaborate closely with science, data, engineering, commercial, and executive teams to move ideas from concept to market.
The role requires strong customer discovery skills, practical technical fluency, and a genuine bias toward shipping and learning quickly.
You’ll also lead pilot programs with retail and CPG partners and turn successful experiments into scalable products.
This is a high-impact role for a product leader who thrives on ambiguity and wants to build solutions that can influence healthier choices at scale.
- Own new product development for grocery retail and CPG customers end to end, from initial customer conversations and concept development through validation, MVP, launch, and first revenue.
- Conduct continuous discovery with retailers, CPG brands, category managers, merchandisers, and other stakeholders to identify high-value problems and validate customer willingness to pay.
- Define lean, testable MVPs by establishing priorities, writing requirements, determining scope, and rapidly putting early solutions in front of customers.
- Translate complex food intelligence, data assets, scoring systems, and ingredient insights into intuitive product experiences that deliver measurable customer value.
- Lead pilot engagements with retail and CPG partners, coordinating internal teams, managing commitments, and developing successful pilots into repeatable commercial products.
- Create clear product documentation, including concept briefs, specifications, user stories, decision logs, acceptance criteria, and launch requirements.
- Partner daily with Science, Data, and Engineering teams, facilitate agile ceremonies, make prioritization decisions, and maintain alignment across distributed teams.
- Establish success metrics and quality standards for launches, including evaluation frameworks for AI- and LLM-powered features.
- Support customer-facing activities such as product demonstrations, RFP responses, commercial discussions, and follow-ups while bringing market insights back into product strategy and the roadmap.
- Within the first 90 days, complete a structured discovery sprint, define and secure approval for an initial zero-to-one product concept, and initiate a pilot with a retail or CPG partner.
- 6+ years of product management experience, with a demonstrated history of personally shipping software products as the accountable Product Manager.
- Required experience developing software products within grocery retail or the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry, with an understanding of areas such as category management, merchandising, private label, retail media, distribution, or brand analytics.
- Proven zero-to-one product experience, including taking at least one product from concept through initial release and first revenue.
- Strong customer discovery capabilities, including structured interviews, problem validation, willingness-to-pay assessment, and translating qualitative insights into actionable product opportunities.
- Technical fluency across data, APIs, and AI/LLM-based systems, with the ability to scope solutions realistically and challenge technical approaches without needing to write production code.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to align scientists, engineers, executives, sales teams, and external partners without relying on formal authority.
- Exceptional written communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to make complex product concepts understandable through clear specifications, briefs, presentations, and updates.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, prioritization, and decision-making abilities, particularly in ambiguous and rapidly changing environments.
- A genuine bias toward action, experimentation, iteration, and shipping rather than prolonged planning or meeting-driven processes.
- Background or strong interest in food, nutrition, health, or scientific data is a plus; curiosity and scientific literacy are highly valued.
- Ability to work effectively in an early-stage startup environment where priorities can evolve quickly and resources may be limited.
- Commitment to building inclusive, collaborative, transparent, and customer-focused products.
- Opportunity to lead zero-to-one product development with significant ownership and visible business impact.
- Work on innovative products at the intersection of food intelligence, health, data, and AI.
- Direct exposure to grocery retailers, CPG brands, and other enterprise customers.
- Collaborative environment working closely with science, data, engineering, and commercial teams.
- High level of autonomy and the opportunity to influence product strategy, roadmap, and company growth.
- Mission-driven culture focused on improving health and well-being through better information and technology.
- Inclusive workplace that values transparency, creativity, collaboration, and individual contribution.
- Equal opportunity employment environment committed to diversity and inclusion.
