Job Description
Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (CVICU RN)
The CVICU Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care to critically ill patients with complex cardiovascular conditions. The RN is responsible for assessing patients, developing and implementing individualized plans of care, administering medications and treatments, monitoring hemodynamic status, managing advanced cardiac equipment, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Responsibilities
Assess critically ill cardiac patients and monitor changes in condition.
Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and hemodynamic data.
Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and treatments.
Manage ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, and other advanced equipment.
Provide preoperative and postoperative care for cardiovascular procedures.
Respond promptly to cardiac and other medical emergencies.
Develop and update individualized care plans.
Educate patients and families.
Coordinate care with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Complete timely and accurate documentation.
Follow all patient-safety and infection-prevention standards.
Qualifications
Active RN license for the state of practice.
Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications.
Additional certifications as required by the facility.
Minimum of one year of recent CVICU or cardiovascular critical care experience.
Experience with cardiac drips, ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring, and advanced cardiac equipment.
Strong critical-thinking, communication, and emergency-response skills.
Level I experience preferred/required in some units
EMR: EPIC
