The Billing and Follow Up Team Lead is responsible for providing operational leadership, coaching, and oversight of staff responsible for claim billing, insurance follow-up, denial management, and A/R resolution. The role serves as a liaison between staff, management, providers, and payers to improve revenue cycle performance and achieve organizational financial goals. • Essential Duties and Responsibilities o Supervise billing and follow up representatives o Assign workloads and prioritize high-value or aging accounts o Train, coach and mentor staff o Monitor productivity and quality metrics o Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and retention o Ensure timely submission and resolution of claims o Monitor aging accounts and escalate complex issues o Review billing edits and identify trends affecting reimbursement o Coordinate with coding, patient access, and clinical departments to resolve claim issues o Support month-end and year-end revenue cycle activities o Monitor adherence to policies and procedures o Perform quality audits of billing and follow-up activities o Identify educational opportunities based on audit findings o Stay current on payer policy changes and regulatory updates o Resolve complex billing and payer issues o Serve as the escalation point for difficult accounts o Participate in meetings with payers regarding recurring issues o Analyze denial trends and recommend corrective actions o Identify workflow inefficiencies and implement improvements o Participate in revenue cycle improvement initiatives o Lead team huddles o Maintain positive relationships with internal departments and insurance payers

High school diploma or equivalent required o Associate’s degree in accounting, business, healthcare administration or related field preferred o 2-5years of healthcare billing, insurance follow-up, or revenue cycle experience preferred o Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred o Experience with hospital or physician billing o Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance o Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding principles o Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and patient accounting systems o Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills o Excellent written and verbal communication o Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines o Strong knowledge of healthcare billing, insurance follow-up and denial management o Experience with electronic health records and patient account systems o Understanding of payer rules including Medicare, Medicaid and commercial insurance o Excellent leadership, coaching and conflict resolution skills o Knowledge of regulatory requirements, including HIPAA and revenue cycle best practices Work Location: o Hybrid. This position requires a combination of on-site and remote work. Regular in-office attendance is expected to support team leadership, training, collaboration and operational oversight. Remote work may be permitted based on departmental needs, business priorities, and manager approval.
