JOB TITLE: Assistant Childcare Center Director
DEPARTMENT: Seedling Center
REPORTS TO: Childcare Center Director
JOB SUMMARY
The Childcare Assistant Director assists the Director in planning, organizing and directing all aspects of the childcare facility including the development of the service, day-to-day operations, compliance with licensure requirements and CRH policies, budgeting, cost control, hiring and managing staff, coordinating the scheduling of children and staff, and providing ongoing oversight and direction to support the daily activities of the center.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Must be eligible to be a childcare center director qualified by the State of Wyoming.
- Prefer a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in childhood development, early childhood education, elementary education or related field.
- An associate’s degree in the human services field and/or at least 3-5 years’ childcare experience may be considered.
- Must hold or be eligible for Infant/Toddler Director Credential.
- Must pass State of Wyoming DCI criminal background check, Department of Family Services background check and State of Wyoming fingerprint clearance test.

- Must possess a high degree of confidentiality in all matters with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Must be able to supervise all types of people with different levels of education.
- Must have good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with staff and public in a friendly, courteous and helpful manner.
- Exhibits patience and the ability to work well with young children, parents, staff, personnel of other departments, and representatives of licensing agencies.
- Able to manage a multitude of tasks, sometimes under pressure and often in a fast-paced environment.
- Management skills and excellent customer service required.
- Must have the ability to plan, prepare, and implement a developmental preschool curriculum for ages birth through 6.
- Must have developed verbal communication skills.
- Effective computer and keyboarding skills.
- Must have ability to learn and use Microsoft Office Suite products including Word and Outlook.
- Ability to learn new computer software applications.
- Must be able to stoop, bend down to eye level with children, and stand for long periods of time while carrying or holding children.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
BLS and First Aid Certification (AHA) required within 60 days of employment. Valid clean driver’s license.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Demonstrates the qualifications and capability to assume the duties and responsibilities of the Director during periods of absence.
- Aids in overseeing the daily operations of the Seedlings Center to include managing the budget and creating reports.
- Provides support in the hiring, training, supervision and evaluation of staff.
- Assists in ensuring all required documentation for children, staff, and licensing compliance is obtained, maintained, and organized in accordance with state licensing regulations.
- Assists in emergency planning and drills.
- Aids in scheduling staff and children to ensure appropriate ratios.
- Assists in ensuring compliance with all federal, state, local childcare regulations and Cody Regional Health policies.
- Develops a familiarity with all positions within the Center and provides direct childcare services as necessary.
- Assists in creating and supervising the implementation of appropriate curriculum for all age groups.
- Facilitates the development of social skills, self-control, and self-regulation in children by using positive guidance techniques.
- Performs or assists children in routines such as feeding, diapering, bathroom duties, hand washing, and naptime procedures.
- Maintains professional relationships with Special Education Professionals and the Park County School District #6 kindergarten liaison, to investigate and incorporate strategies into the daily classroom routine to help children meet educational, behavioral, and therapeutic goals, if appropriate.
- Keeps a neat, orderly, and appealing environment and participates in light housekeeping responsibilities.
- Increases knowledge base by participating in state, hospital, and department sponsored continuing education.
- Assures provision of quality customer service consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Key Values of Cody Regional Health and the organization’s Planetree philosophy.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
- Attend various facility meetings and special events.
- Responsible for the oversight of special projects or events as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned by director, within the scope of the position.
