TITLE: Driver
REPORTS TO: Warehouse Manager
OBJECTIVE: To operate a Lindenmeyr Munroe (“Company”) truck over designated routes to deliver or render services to customers following established policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:- Performs Company established pre and post-trip safety inspections of assigned vehicle.
- Drives truck in a safe, efficient and courteous manner and in adherence of local, state, and federal laws and regulations. (i.e., DOT, FMCSA, etc.).
- Drives multi-axle truck or combination unit up to 80,000lbs (GVW) to designated delivery stops to transport, deliver and/or pick-up product.
- Unloads and/or picks up orders at designated delivery site utilizing equipment on truck which includes pallet jack, power jack, hand truck or by hand when necessary.
- Verifies goods against order and obtains customer signature.
- Proficient completion of assigned delivery route in the predetermined sequence.
- Courteous, cooperative, respectful and professional manner and appearance when interacting with customers.
- Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

- Standing: Rarely. Short periods of standing may be required for up to a few minutes at a time (e.g., while communicating with customers)
- Walking: Frequently. On various types of surfaces indoors and outdoors (concrete, blacktop, metal, over curbs, carpet, tile, linoleum) Distances vary (usually short distances but on occasion may be required to walk up to 50 yards at a time). May be performed in wet weather or slippery conditions.
- Climbing: Frequently. In and out of truck up to 50 times a day. Climbing: Frequently. Up and down stairs. Flights of 1 – 33 steps at delivery locations. Includes stepping on and off rear lift gate in lowered position (height 2 – 5 inches). Occasionally negotiates steps while carrying product, with or without a hand truck.
- Sitting: Frequently. While driving up to 1 – 3 hours at a time
- Lifting/Carrying: Occasionally. Up to 70 pounds at various heights and distances:
- from shoulder height to ground
- from waist height to ground
- from waist height to shoulder height
- from waist height or lower to waist height or lower
- Pushing/pulling: Occasionally. Manipulate up to 160 pound cartons of product:
- sliding box off pallet to hand truck
- sliding box from waist height to ground
- sliding box from waist height to waist height
- Pushing/pulling: Frequently. Using hand truck and manual pallet jack to move loads of 5 cartons or more.
- Bending: Occasionally. While operating lift gate controls, moving product from pallet to hand truck, Checking product against delivery receipt, opening and closing lift gate, unwrapping pallet, and occasionally to open rear door.
- Reaching: Occasionally. To access boxes on pallet.
- Crouching/kneeling: Rarely. Up to a few minutes at a time while performing safety inspection or verifying product.
- Balancing: Occasionally. Walking on uneven surfaces,
- Specific Tasks:
Frequently: Open and close rear door of truck up to 40 times per day.
Frequently: Maneuver hand truck (push/pull/steer/tilt) Unloaded and loaded (up to 5 cartons).
Frequently: Operate Manual/powered walk-behind pallet jack including hand controls while moving product and/or skids in excess of 2,000 lbs. Unloaded and loaded.
- Reading: Frequently. Read order sheets and product labels.
- Comparing: Frequently. Verifying order by comparing order sheet and product label at delivery site.
- Writing: Occasionally. Records delivery information, mileage, and time at every stop.

Box weight: Minimum weight 5 lbs.
Maximum weight manually lifted is about 70 lbs.
Boxes over 70 lbs. are not lifted but are pushed/pulled from one pallet to another.
Steps into Cab: 13.5” ground to bottom step
19” bottom step to top step 13” top step to floor of cab
Rear Ladder steps on each side of truck (rarely used):
28” ground to bottom step
12” bottom step to middle step 12” middle step to top step

The Federal Regulations set forth minimum standards for drivers of all vehicles over 10,000 lbs. GVW or GVWR operating in interstate commerce. The driver must demonstrate that he/she:
- Is 21 years of age
- Can safely operate the type of equipment he/she will be assigned to drive
- Is physically qualified/can lift up to 70 lbs
- Has a valid class A CDL license from the state of residence (Class B CDL at some location if required)
- Has provided a list of moving violations and accidents for the past 3 years
- Is not disqualified to drive
- Has a road test certificate or equivalent (usually a CDL)
- History of on time performance
- Meat all DOT (FMCSA) requirements
- Complete a DOT application
- Ability to maintain Electronic Logging Device (ELD) or paper logs (when needed)
- Proficient in basic math skills to include units of measurements, multiplication, division and subtraction.
- Ability to work independently.
Experience – A minimum of 1 year of recent experience driving the type of equipment that the driver will be assigned to operate in the past 3 years or a total of 2 years of experience in the past 5 years.
Accidents – No PREVENTABLE DOT recordable accident in the past three years in which the driver was convicted of a moving violation in connection with the crash.
- No more than 2 preventable accidents in the last 3 years regardless of severity Violations – No open violations (must show disposition date)
- No more than 2 of the same type of moving violations in the past 3 years in any type of motor vehicle.
- No more than 3 moving violations total in the past 3 years
Serious Offenses – No convictions for any of the following offenses in the past 5 years in any type of vehicle:
- More than one excessive speeding conviction (15 mph or more above the posted speed limit)
- Careless, Reckless and/or Unsafe driving
- Operating a vehicle with a revoked suspended license
- DUI / DWI convictions, or refusing to test (as prescribed by state law)
- Driving under the influence of a controlled substance in the past years
- Leaving the scene of an accident
- A moving violation in connection with a fatal accident
- Vehicular manslaughter or vehicular homicide
- Eluding a police officer
