Job Description
The Credentialing Coordinator manages the day-to-day operations of the credentialing staff. Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures for credentialing activities that meet accreditation, state and federal credentialing standards and regulations. Monitors and maintains timeliness of all credentialing activity and reporting consistent with regulatory and policy requirements. Maintains systems to identify and disseminate to others medical staff members and their clinical privileges. Responsible for coordinating, monitoring and maintaining the credentialing and re-credentialing process. Works with the medical staff leadership for the approval and ongoing review of credentialed providers. Monitors and revises credentialing and privileging forms as needed. Ensures maintenance of medical staff and allied health staff files. Schedules and supports (prepares agenda, attends and prepares minutes) the Credentials Committee in the absence of a Credentialing Specialist. Provides support to the Credentials Committee Chair as needed and assumes other related responsibilities as assigned, under the supervision of the Vice President of Marketing and Medical Staff Services. In addition, the Credentialing Services Coordinator will assist healthcare providers with research article requests through DOCLINE Delivery Service and ensure prompt delivery.
Performance Expectations:
- Travel to regional hospitals for credentialing and medical staff meetings are required throughout the year.
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills in writing as well as verbally.
- Demonstrates the ability to process providers accurately, timely, and appropriately.
- Demonstrates the skills necessary to request and deliver article requests for providers.
- Demonstrates proficiency in utilizing and navigating hospital credentialing software.
- Demonstrates proficiency with MS based computer equipment and various software programs including, Outlook, Excel, Word, and access.
- Demonstrates competence/proficiency in utilizing Lawson.
- Demonstrates competence/proficiency in utilizing Kronos.
- Demonstrates ability and competence to multitask and manage multiple projects.
- Demonstrates skills and knowledge required to ensure provider files meet all regulations and standards.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills:
Bachelor degree preferred. Three to five years’ experience working in provider credentialing or working in a related hospital department is required. Typing and computer skills required.
Work Experience:
Three to five years’ experience working in provider credentialing or working in a related hospital department is required. Familiarity with Medical Staff Support and Credentialing required.
