Location: Krugerville, TX

Pay: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)

Job Type: Full-Time

Schedule

Operating Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM

  • Occasional overtime may be required.
  • Occasional weekend work may be required.

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Fleet Maintenance Technician II to perform diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, and inspections on commercial and school bus fleets. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and customer service.

Fleet Maintenance Technician II is responsible for maintaining vehicles and equipment in accordance with company, manufacturer, and regulatory standards while supporting fleet reliability and customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on commercial and school bus fleets.
  • Complete assigned repairs efficiently while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, HVAC, suspension, steering, brake, and drivetrain systems.
  • Review work orders and complete assigned service tasks.
  • Conduct thorough vehicle inspections to identify maintenance, repair, and safety concerns.
  • Accurately document repairs, labor hours, parts usage, and inspection findings using company software systems.
  • Complete repair documentation utilizing the "3C" method:
    • Concern
    • Cause
    • Correction
  • Communicate with the Parts Department to obtain required parts and materials.
  • Maintain company-issued tools and equipment in safe operating conditions.
  • Respond to mobile service calls and perform repairs at customer locations when qualified and assigned.
  • Notify Service Management of delays, repair challenges, or additional repair needs.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas.
  • Support facility maintenance and vehicle delivery activities as needed.
  • Perform monthly safety inspections and other assigned maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain required certifications and complete assigned training programs.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Wear and utilize all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Successful completion of company-required technician training and certification programs.
  • EPA 609 Certification.
  • Wheelchair Lift Inspection and Maintenance Training.
  • Air Conditioning Training in at least one of the following systems:
    • MCC/Carrier
    • Valeo
    • Trans-Air
    • ACT
  • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Vocational, Trade School, or Technical School Certificate/Diploma.
  • Three (3) or more years of heavy-duty vehicle, fleet, diesel, commercial truck, or bus repair experience.
  • Two (2) or more years of electrical diagnostics and repair experience.
  • ASE School Bus Certifications, including:
    • S1 – Body Systems & Special Equipment
    • S2 – Diesel Engines
    • S3 – Drivetrain
    • S4 – Brakes
    • S5 – Suspension & Steering
    • S6 – Electrical/Electronic Systems
    • S7 – Air Conditioning Systems & Controls
  • Experience servicing wheelchair lift systems such as Braun or Ricon.
  • Experience with HVAC systems used in commercial transportation.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this position, employees may be exposed to:

  • Moving mechanical parts
  • Fumes and airborne particles
  • Loud noise levels
  • Vehicle vibration
  • Indoor shop environments
  • Outdoor weather conditions

Appropriate safety equipment and PPE must be worn at all times.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in various weather and shop conditions.
  • Ability to operate tools, equipment, and vehicles safely.
