Position Summary

Senior-level fitter performing advanced layout, assembly, and troubleshooting of complex structural fabrications.

Essential Duties

• Execute complex layouts and fit-ups.
• Interpret detailed fabrication drawings and specifications.
• Resolve fabrication and assembly challenges.
• Verify final dimensions and tolerances.
• Lead projects and mentor junior employees.
• Coordinate production sequencing and workflow.

Qualifications

• Expert knowledge of fabrication practices.
• Advanced blueprint and layout skills.
• Leadership and training abilities.

Experience

• 5+ years of structural fitting experience.

Hours

• Monday – Thursday 6:00am – 4:30pm
• Overtime may be required.

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Technical, vocational, or trade school training in fabrication, welding, or a related field is a plus.
• Typically 5+ years of structural fitting, steel fabrication, or heavy industrial experience.
• Proven experience fitting complex structural steel assemblies.
• Advanced ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and weld symbols.
• Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication processes and tolerances.
• Ability to perform complex layout work and calculate dimensions.
• Proficient with measuring tools, squares, levels, transits, and layout equipment.
• Knowledge of FCAW, SMAW, and GMAW welding processes.
• Ability to perform tack welding as required.
• Experience operating fabrication equipment, torches, grinders, and material-handling equipment.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to train and mentor junior fitters.
• Lay out, fit, align, and assemble structural steel components according to drawings and specifications.
• Verify dimensions, weld preparations, and final fit-up before welding.
• Work independently on complex fabrication projects.
• Identify and resolve fit-up and dimensional issues.
• Inspect completed work for quality, accuracy, and compliance with standards.
• Coordinate with welders, supervisors, and quality personnel.
• Mentor and assist Structural Fitter I and II employees.
• Maintain a safe and productive work environment.
• Ability to stand, bend, climb, kneel, and work in industrial environments.
• Ability to lift and move materials (often up to 50 pounds or more).
• Ability to work overtime and occasional weekends as required.
