This position is covered by the McNamara-O’Hara Service Contract Act (SCA) and is subject to the applicable U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) wage determination. Compensation, fringe benefits, and applicable paid leave will be provided in accordance with the SCA wage determination incorporated into the governing federal contract. The minimum hourly wage and health & welfare fringe benefit rate are set by the DOL and may be adjusted in accordance with contract modifications or updated wage determinations.

Impact Summary:
The Engineering Technician V will serve as a technical expert, providing critical support to the design, development, substantiation, and documentation of complex aircraft modifications and prototype systems for military and civilian aircraft. The Engineering Technician V will execute critical engineering projects with a high level of autonomy and expertise, ensuring technical excellence in design and implementation. The role requires advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt designs to meet unique specifications and challenging performance criteria. Successful candidates will significantly contribute to the development and improvement of engineering solutions that meet both current and future needs.
Responsibilities:
· Develop, design, and construct major units, devices, or equipment, ensuring all project specifications and performance requirements are met.
· Conduct thorough experiments and tests, analyze results, and modify equipment design to enhance performance, documenting findings and making detailed reports.
· Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve technical issues and coordinate project activities.
· Apply expert knowledge of ASME Y14.x series (i.e., Y14.5, Y14.100, Y14.24, Y14.3, Y14.34/14.35) concepts and demonstrate fluent application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to ensure the accuracy, clarity, and manufacturability of designs.
· Independently produce high-quality drawings for aircraft modifications including bracket/adapter and assembly drawings, complete and clear notes, flag notes, and references in accordance with the standards and specifications.
· Utilize PTC Creo for advanced 3D parametric modeling, large assembly management, sheet metal design, and the generation of detailed 2D engineering drawings, including the creation of digital wire routing and harness designs.
· Perform comprehensive 2D and 3D digital wire routing and harness design, creating detailed installation drawings, ensuring compliance with aerospace wiring standards, bend radii, and separation requirements.
· Research, interpret, and integrate existing aircraft technical data from diverse repositories including AVPLM, IETMS, and V-22 systems, as well as OEM documentation, to inform design decisions and validate modification concepts.
· Manage engineering data and documentation within PTC Windchill, ensuring proper configuration control, revision management, lifecycle adherence, and processing of Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
· Develop, prepare, and revise highly complex engineering drawings, 3D models, and technical documentation for aircraft structural modifications, system installations, and prototype components, ensuring compliance with all applicable standards.
· Select and adapt plans, techniques, designs, or layouts for engineering projects.
· Review, analyze, and integrate the technical work of others to ensure consistency and adequacy against the project requirements.
· Prepare detailed specifications, layouts, parts lists, cost estimates, and procedural guidelines for projects.
· Collaborate extensively with engineers, structural analysts, manufacturing personnel, and field artisans to resolve complex technical issues, conduct fit checks, incorporate field feedback, and ensure successful installation and integration of modifications.
· Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and quality review to junior technicians on drafting standards, CAD best practices, GD&T application, and aircraft modification procedures.
· Support structural analysis efforts by preparing accurate geometry, fastener patterns, and material callouts for engineering review and substantiation.

Requirements:Qualifications:
· High School diploma or equivalent required.
· Minimum of 9 years’ recent experience in a similar role within engineering projects.
· Significant experience in aircraft modification within Naval or DoW industry.
· Demonstrated experience in planning, designing, and executing engineering projects.
· Skilled in using analytical instruments and interpreting test results.
· Must be proficient in GD&T Application of aircraft and modification parts including interpretation and critique GD&T from engineers/technicians, and balance manufacturability, inspection feasibility, and functional fit in the aircraft environment.
· Proven ability to translate sketches and high-level engineering concepts into fully detailed, releasable drawings and apply best practices for revision control, superseded views, and redline integration.
· Demonstrated ability to create comprehensive 2D and 3D digital wire routing documentation, including cable/harness models, installation drawings, compliance with aerospace wiring standards, bend radii, separation requirements, and maintainability considerations.
· Experience working within a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system, such as PTC Windchill, for configuration control, data management, and workflow adherence, and researching and utilizing existing aircraft technical data from repositories like AVPLM, IETMS, or V-22 systems to inform design decisions.
· Skilled in utilizing PTC Creo for complex 3D parametric modeling, large assembly management, sheet metal design, and generating highly detailed 2D engineering drawings.
· Proficiency in using PTC Windchill or similar PLM systems for managing engineering data, controlling configurations, processing engineering changes (ECPs/ECNs), and adhering to established lifecycle workflows in a government or aerospace environment, ensuring data integrity and traceability.
· Experience designing rack and box mounting solutions to include bulkhead panels and cable support hardware accounting for strain relief, EMI/EMC and maintainability is desired.
· Direct on-aircraft support experience by supporting a hangar and depot environment to capture on-aircraft as built conditions and create updated 3D models and 2D drawings is desired.
· No specific special training required; however, practical experience in a similar capacity is crucial.
· Must be a U.S. citizen and can obtain a US Security Clearance to the level of SECRET.
Travel:
· Travel may be required up to 5% of the time.

Salary Information:
The estimated salary range for this position will be $43.61 - $62.50 per hour based on the successful candidates experience, qualifications, and skill set.
