Job Description
Position Summary
Quality Electrical Systems is seeking a Copper Manufacturing Operator to support our growing copper production process. This is a cross-trained, safety-sensitive manufacturing role responsible for supporting copper upcast casting, extrusion, drawing, busbar bending, punch/shear operations, tin plating, waterjet cutting, material handling, quality inspections, and owner-operator maintenance activities.
Employees in this role will rotate between qualified work centers based on training, production needs, safety requirements, and business priorities. This position is ideal for someone who is dependable, safety-focused, mechanically curious, willing to learn, and interested in being part of a growing copper manufacturing team.

Essential Responsibilities
-Operate assigned production equipment after completing required training, competency verification, and company authorization.
-Monitor copper casting, extrusion, drawing, plating, fabrication, and material-handling processes.
-Read and follow work orders, drawings, travelers, production instructions, safety procedures, labels, checklists, and quality requirements.
-Perform visual inspections, dimensional checks, production documentation, startup checks, shutdown checks, and operator-level maintenance tasks.
-Use approved measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, gauges, templates, and other inspection equipment.
-Stage, move, inspect, clean, label, organize, and prepare copper parts and materials for production.
-Identify and communicate safety, quality, equipment, material, or process concerns promptly to supervision, maintenance, quality, or safety personnel.
-Support Lean manufacturing, TPM, 5S, standard work, visual management, and continuous improvement activities.
-Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
-Follow all PPE, machine guarding, lockout/tagout, hazard communication, chemical safety, material handling, and emergency response requirements.

Copper Casting Responsibilities
-Support operation of the copper upcast casting line after training and authorization.
-Monitor furnace temperature, induction power, casting speed, cooling systems, alarms, and process indicators.
-Verify cooling water flow, pressure, temperature, and general system condition.
-Inspect cast copper surface quality, dimensional conformance, and visible product condition.
-Respond appropriately to alarms, abnormal conditions, process instability, equipment concerns, or unsafe conditions.
-Assist with startup, shutdown, changeovers, cleaning, inspections, staging, and routine readiness checks.
-Work safely around heat hazards, molten metal hazards, pinch points, moving equipment, fumes, cooling water systems, and emergency conditions.

Environmental Responsibilities
-Follow hazardous chemical handling, labeling, storage, and PPE requirements.
-Prevent spills and immediately report spills, leaks, releases, or abnormal environmental conditions.
-Properly label, segregate, and manage waste according to company procedures.
-Support wastewater, stormwater, chemical storage, housekeeping, and environmental compliance expectations.
-Keep containers closed, labeled, and stored properly.
-Follow company procedures for scrap, dust, filters, process residues, used materials, and other production-related waste streams.

Required Qualifications
-Manufacturing, metal fabrication, machine operation, copper processing, plating, waterjet, casting, or material-handling experience is preferred.
-Ability to safely work in a rotating production role across multiple copper manufacturing areas.
-Ability to read and follow drawings, travelers, work instructions, labels, checklists, safety instructions, and quality requirements.
-Basic computer or HMI skills, including the ability to enter production information, follow screen prompts, and respond to equipment alarms.
-Ability to use measuring instruments and perform basic quality checks.
-Ability to communicate safety, quality, equipment, and production concerns clearly and promptly.
-Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, quality, housekeeping, and continuous improvement.
-Willingness to be trained, evaluated, and authorized before independently operating equipment.
-Willingness to support an owner-operator model, including equipment care, inspections, cleanliness, readiness checks, basic troubleshooting, and communication of abnormal conditions.

-Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, slide, and position materials weighing over 50 pounds with assistance, team lifting, or mechanical support when required.
-Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the shift.

-Ability to handle long, heavy, sharp, hot, or awkward copper parts safely.
-Ability to work around powered machinery, hydraulic equipment, pinch points, sharp edges, hot surfaces, wet floors, moving material, carts, forklifts, cranes, hoists, and industrial traffic.
-Ability to perform routine cleaning, inspections, staging, deburring, material movement, and operator-level readiness activities.
-Ability to wear required PPE for the assigned task and work area.
