Job Description

Position Summary

The Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing HVAC, mechanical, and piping construction projects from inception through completion. This position oversees project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, procurement, client relations, and field operations to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. The Project Manager collaborates closely with owners, engineers, field supervisors, and contractors to resolve issues, maintain project progress, and deliver exceptional results for clients.

Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesProject Planning & Execution
  • Manage all phases of assigned mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and work plans.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, contracts, and scope of work.
  • Coordinate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors to support project objectives.
  • Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Ensure projects are completed according to contract requirements and quality standards.
Financial Management
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports.
  • Track labor productivity, material costs, and project expenditures.
  • Review and approve invoices, purchase orders, and subcontractor payments.
  • Manage change orders, cost impacts, and project billing.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project profitability and efficiency.
Client & Stakeholder Relations
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, owners, and project stakeholders.
  • Lead owner, architect, and contractor (OAC) meetings.
  • Maintain positive relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and trade partners.
  • Communicate project status, milestones, and potential issues proactively.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
Field Coordination & Leadership
  • Collaborate with field supervisors and foremen to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Support jobsite teams in resolving technical and operational challenges.
  • Conduct jobsite visits to monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance.
  • Coordinate with other trades to minimize conflicts and maintain schedules.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and safety.
Risk Management & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and contract requirements.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records and project files throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support project closeout activities, including punch lists and final documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of project management experience in the mechanical construction industry.
  • Experience managing HVAC, piping, and mechanical construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of project scheduling, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with project management platforms such as Procore, Bluebeam, or similar software preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.

  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, construction practices, and industry standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict-resolution abilities.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Combination of office and field work on active construction sites.
  • Frequent travel to project locations as required.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use a computer for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting of materials and equipment up to 25 pounds.
  • May require visits to mechanical rooms, rooftops, and active construction environments.
