Job Description

Opportunity: Morgan Foods, Inc. has a Guard/Security role available within the Human Resources department. This is a full-time, on-site plant security role responsible for controlling access to the facility, monitoring traffic entering and leaving company property, assisting employees, visitors, and truck drivers, and supporting the safety and security of Morgan Foods’ plant, grounds, warehouse, and company property.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Is a Safety and Security Champion for the organization by helping maintain a safe, secure, and controlled entrance to company property.
  • Controls entrance and exit of employees, truck drivers, authorized visitors, vendors, and other approved individuals entering or leaving company grounds.
  • Opens and secures gates as needed to allow authorized traffic to enter or exit the facility.
  • Checks credentials, approved rosters, visitor information, and other required authorization before admitting individuals onto company property.
  • Issues passes only as authorized by company leadership and established procedures.
  • Directs visitors, vendors, truck drivers, and other approved individuals to the proper areas of the grounds, buildings, or departments.
  • Inspects outgoing traffic to help prevent unauthorized removal of company property, materials, tools, equipment, or products.
  • Records the number of trucks, carriers, and other applicable traffic entering and leaving the facility.
  • Requires proper permits or authorization for tools, materials, or other items taken from company premises.
  • Monitors and supports proper use of time clocks for recording employee arrival and departure.
  • Answers telephone calls and transfers calls when the switchboard or main office coverage is closed.
  • Maintains awareness of plant entrance activity, visitor flow, and traffic movement to support safe and orderly operations.
  • Performs light maintenance and housekeeping duties in assigned guard/gate areas, which may include mowing, sweeping, and keeping the area clean and presentable.
  • Supports special projects or assignments as needed to help resolve ongoing issues, improve security practices, or assist with departmental goals.
  • Follows all company policies, safety rules, security procedures, and site access requirements.
  • Maintains professionalism, confidentiality, and sound judgment when interacting with employees, visitors, truck drivers, vendors, and company leadership.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements: Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and use hands/fingers/wrists to operate phones, gates, radios, logs, computers, and other assigned equipment. Ability to work in and around vehicle traffic, gates, entry points, and plant grounds. Ability to occasionally lift 50 lbs. or more as needed.

Environmental Requirements: Ability to work in the following environments: Gate/Security Area — primary work environment with exposure to vehicle traffic, outside weather conditions, varying temperatures, noise, and active plant operations. Office/Guard Station — secondary work environment. PPE may be required based on assigned duties and work areas.

Communication Requirements: Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions, security procedures, safety rules, access requirements, and company policies. Ability to communicate effectively with employees, visitors, truck drivers, vendors, supervisors, and company leadership. Ability to complete logs, visitor records, truck records, and other required documentation accurately and timely.

Demonstrates reliability, accountability, confidentiality, alertness, and consistent attendance. Ability to remain observant, follow procedures, and respond appropriately to changing priorities, visitor needs, traffic flow, and security concerns.

Scheduling & Availability: Ability to work assigned shifts, including overtime, weekends, holidays, or adjusted schedules as needed to support plant security, business operations, and facility coverage.

Education/Training/Skills/Experience/Personal Attributes:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous security, guard, gatehouse, military, law enforcement, warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred, but not required
  • Must be able to meet company requirements for an armed security position.
  • Basic to intermediate computer literacy preferred.
  • Good written, verbal, communication, and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to accurately complete logs, records, passes, and other required documentation.
  • Ability to check credentials, follow access control procedures, and enforce company entry requirements.
  • Ability to interact professionally with employees, visitors, truck drivers, vendors, and leadership.
  • Strong attention to detail, awareness, and sound judgment required.
  • Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills preferred.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting the larger team and company operation.
  • Reliable attendance required.
