Job Description
Southern Highlands Community Mental Health Center is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Administrative Specialist – Credentialing to join our team! If you enjoy working behind the scenes to ensure healthcare professionals meet regulatory and credentialing requirements, this may be the perfect opportunity for you.
In this role, you will coordinate the credentialing and re-credentialing of providers and employees, maintain compliance with state and insurance requirements, track licenses and certifications, complete WV CARES background checks, and help support the delivery of high-quality behavioral health services throughout our organization.
Responsibilities- Coordinate provider and employee credentialing and re-credentialing
- Verify licenses, certifications, education, and malpractice insurance
- Process and monitor WV CARES background checks
- Track professional licenses, continuing education (CEUs), and renewal deadlines
- Maintain CAQH ProView profiles and insurance credentialing records
- Assist with performance evaluations and compliance documentation
- Prepare reports and support regulatory and accreditation audits
- Work collaboratively with internal departments and insurance payers
- Maintain accurate, confidential records
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer applications
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy
Preferred:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field
- Previous credentialing, medical office, healthcare administration, or compliance experience
- Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or Certified Professional in Medical Services Management (CPMSM)

Candidates who are not currently CPCS or CPMSM certified are encouraged to apply. Employees who are not certified at the time of hire will be expected to begin the certification process after one (1) year of employment with SHCMHC, provided they meet the eligibility requirements of the applicable certifying organization.
