As a Staff ML Scientist, you will drive the design, development, and deployment of advanced AI solutions while providing technical leadership across machine learning initiatives. You will work across teams to identify opportunities where AI can create measurable value and ensure solutions are scalable, effective, and aligned with business goals.
- Lead the development and implementation of machine learning and generative AI solutions addressing complex customer and business challenges.
- Drive innovation across strategic AI initiatives, including personalization, recommendation systems, pricing optimization, experimentation, simulation-based modeling, and agentic AI.
- Partner with engineering, product management, and business stakeholders to translate ambiguous problems into impactful technical solutions.
- Influence AI strategy, modeling approaches, architecture decisions, and technical standards across the organization.
- Mentor scientists and engineers by sharing expertise, improving technical practices, and supporting team growth.
- Measure, analyze, and optimize the impact of machine learning solutions through experimentation, data analysis, and continuous improvement.
- Research and apply emerging AI technologies to enhance customer-facing products and business capabilities.
The ideal candidate is an experienced machine learning professional with strong expertise in applying AI techniques to real-world business problems. You bring a combination of technical depth, strategic thinking, and the ability to operate independently in complex environments.
- Advanced knowledge of machine learning theory and proven experience applying ML techniques to production business applications.
- Hands-on experience building, deploying, and scaling machine learning, artificial intelligence, or generative AI solutions.
- Strong familiarity with modern AI platforms and large language model ecosystems, including technologies such as Claude, GPT, Bedrock, or similar tools.
- Experience designing AI systems that deliver measurable business outcomes in customer-facing or high-scale environments.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven ability to lead initiatives independently, navigate ambiguity, and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
- Experience with personalization, recommendation systems, ranking models, or customer targeting solutions is a plus.
- Background developing conversational AI, chatbots, natural language processing applications, or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems is beneficial.
- Experience with agentic AI architectures, autonomous workflows, experimentation frameworks, A/B testing, or simulation models is preferred.
- Experience working on AI products within SaaS, e-commerce, technology, or consumer platforms is advantageous.
- Competitive compensation package based on skills, experience, and location.
- Estimated annual base salary ranges:
- $182,000 – $273,000 USD for Bay Area and Los Angeles locations.
- $157,000 – $235,000 USD for Austin, D.C. Metro, non-Bay Area California, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Oregon, Virginia, and Washington locations.
- $166,800 – $250,200 USD for New York City Metro and Seattle/Kirkland locations.
- $140,000 – $210,000 USD for other eligible U.S. locations.
