The Process Engineer plays a critical leadership role in the expansion of a growing manufacturing facility. This position serves as the primary technical and operational liaison between project teams and plant operations during the introduction of a new major production asset, and then transitions into full process ownership once operational.

This role offers a unique opportunity to be deeply involved in capital expansion, equipment startup, and long‑term operational excellence, while also developing broad plant expertise across existing assets. The successful candidate will help shape the future of the facility by driving safe, efficient, and world‑class manufacturing performance.

Why This Role Matters

This position owns the technical success of a major manufacturing asset with significant business impact. From construction through steady-state operation, the Process Engineer ensures that processes are built correctly, operated efficiently, and continuously optimized to meet performance, quality, safety, and cost targets.

The role is ideal for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of project execution, plant operations, and continuous improvement, and who wants exposure to end‑to‑end asset ownership in an expanding facility.

Key Deliverables & Responsibilities

Asset Introduction & Project Support

  • Serve as the on‑site plant point of contact for all activities related to a new production asset during construction, installation, and startup.
  • Provide technical leadership and plant integration support to ensure seamless transition from project execution to operations.
  • Support equipment commissioning, startup readiness, and operational validation.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to resolve technical issues and ensure alignment with plant standards.

Process Ownership & Operational Excellence

  • Act as process owner once the asset is operational, accountable for achieving output, quality, material usage, energy efficiency, and safety targets.
  • Establish and maintain robust systems for data collection, auditing, and preventive process control.
  • Define and manage process setpoints for all product types and develop associated operational tools (SOPs, setup sheets, management systems).
  • Lead root cause analysis using structured problem‑solving methodologies (RCCA, 5‑Why, Six Sigma–based tools) and drive corrective and preventive actions.

Continuous Improvement & Optimization

  • Identify and lead process efficiency, quality, and cost‑of‑poor‑quality improvement initiatives.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies to enhance current and future processes.
  • Develop and refine process models in collaboration with technical specialists to optimize operational performance.
  • Regularly review and optimize raw material specifications based on performance data.

Leadership, Knowledge Development & Collaboration

  • Train operators, engineers, and technicians on new equipment, processes, and documentation.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive process documentation and training materials.
  • Build capability across the plant by cross‑training on existing manufacturing assets and serving as technical backup as needed.
  • Actively promote a strong safety culture by modeling safe behaviors and engaging teams in safety improvement efforts.
  • Share learnings proactively within the broader technical community and contribute to centers of excellence where applicable.

How Success Is Measured

Success in this role is defined by:

  • Safe, on‑time, and technically sound integration of new manufacturing assets into plant operations
  • Achievement and sustainment of target performance metrics (output, yield, quality, energy, and material efficiency)
  • Reduction in process variability, unplanned downtime, and cost of poor quality
  • High‑quality documentation, training effectiveness, and operator capability
  • Demonstrated leadership in continuous improvement and problem resolution
  • Strong collaboration with project teams, operations, maintenance, and technical partners

Growth & Opportunity

This role offers significant professional growth, including:

  • End‑to‑end ownership of a major manufacturing asset
  • Hands‑on involvement in facility expansion and capital investment projects
  • Exposure to advanced process technologies and modeling tools
  • Opportunities to travel to and learn from similar operations
  • Development as a technical leader within a growing manufacturing organization

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial continuous process manufacturing (process engineering), plus hands‑on troubleshooting experience
  • Demonstrated success in identifying and implementing process improvements
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities, including data analysis
  • Solid project management and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and lead projects to completion
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and lead cross‑functional teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
  • Willingness to travel extensively as required

Preferred

  • Experience with process control architecture and tuning
  • Six Sigma or structured problem‑solving methodology experience
  • Background supporting equipment startups or major capital projects

Work Environment

This position operates primarily within a manufacturing environment and may involve exposure to varying temperatures, noise, moving equipment, heights, dust, fumes, and extensive walking or climbing.
