Federal Work Study eligible students provide part-time support within CSSC. • Arrive by 7:25 AM to clock in and prepare for student arrival.
  • Set up tables with approved extended day materials (e.g., blocks, Legos, art supplies, games).
  • Ensure that only materials marked for extended day use are accessible.
  • Maintain a calm, supervised indoor environment (playground is closed during AM extended day).
  • Guide students with breakfast routines (eat first, then play).
  • Begin clean-up at 8:10 AM; ensure all students participate and that materials are properly stored.
  • Escort elementary students to Room 107 at 8:15 AM and supervise until 8:20 AM (students must always be supervised).
  • Escort preschool students to their classrooms following the elementary group.
  • Maintain active supervision and avoid cell phone use unless explicitly permitted by a teacher.

Elementary (8:20 AM)

  • Accompany students walking to their classrooms.

PM Extended Day (3:40–5:30 PM)

  • Provide active supervision during unstructured playtime both indoors and on the playground.
  • Remain attentive and mobile, positioning yourself to always see and support students.
  • Enforce playground safety rules: Slide feet-first only; no climbing up slides; Swing safely front-to-back only; No rocks, sticks, mulch throwing, or unsafe behaviors; Preschool students only on bikes/scooters with helmets.
  • Snack Time (4:30–4:45 PM): Serve dry snack foods and water; monitor handwashing before snack; Snack is only for enrolled preschool and elementary students; Students may take snack if picked up during this time.
  • If approached by a parent about a child’s day, notify a classroom teacher—do not discuss student performance.
  • Begin final clean-up at 5:00 PM; offer quiet activities (e.g., Legos, coloring) to simplify end-of-day transitions.
  • At 5:30 PM, stack chairs and wipe down tables with disinfecting wipes.

Nap Coverage (12:30–2:15 PM)

  • Assist students in preparing for rest with personal items (blanket, pillow, stuffed animal).
  • Support teachers during story time and help settle students.
  • Monitor nap time and offer quiet comfort (e.g., back rubbing) to help children fall asleep.
  • Maintain silence during nap time—no phone use. Homework may be done only after students are asleep.
  • Support students as they begin to wake up around 2:15 PM.

General Expectations

  • Always maintain direct supervision of students.
  • Use of cell phones during work time is strictly prohibited unless approved by a supervisor.
  • Demonstrate responsibility, maturity, and professionalism in all interactions with students, families, and staff.
