Adjunct Allied Health Instructor

Position Title: Adjunct Allied Health Instructor
Position Type: Part-Time / Adjunct
Schedule: Based on assigned course schedule

Position Summary

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Adjunct Allied Health Instructor to provide classroom, laboratory, and hands-on instruction to students enrolled in our Allied Health programs.

The Adjunct Allied Health Instructor is responsible for delivering instruction in accordance with the school's BPSS-approved curriculum, evaluating student academic and practical performance, maintaining accurate student records, and providing a safe and professional learning environment.

The instructor must meet all applicable requirements established by the New York State Education Department (NYSED), Bureau of Proprietary School Supervision (BPSS) for the specific subject area(s) assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver classroom and hands-on laboratory instruction in accordance with the school's BPSS-approved curriculum.
Teach assigned Allied Health subjects based on the instructor's qualifications, professional experience, and BPSS-approved teaching area.
Prepare and deliver lessons according to the approved curriculum, course syllabus, lesson plans, and established instructional schedule.
Demonstrate clinical and technical procedures accurately and safely.
Supervise students during laboratory exercises, practical skills training, and competency assessments.
Provide instruction on infection control, standard precautions, workplace safety, patient confidentiality, ethics, and professional conduct.
Reinforce proper patient communication and customer service skills.
Administer and grade examinations, quizzes, assignments, practical assessments, and competency evaluations.
Evaluate and document students' academic progress and practical skills.
Maintain accurate attendance, grades, progress reports, skills checklists, and other required academic documentation.
Submit attendance and academic records within established school deadlines.
Identify students who are experiencing academic or skills-related difficulties and provide appropriate support and remediation.
Maintain appropriate classroom management and a professional learning environment.
Ensure laboratories, equipment, supplies, and instructional areas are used safely and appropriately.
Follow all institutional policies and procedures related to student attendance, satisfactory academic progress, conduct, safety, and academic integrity.
Maintain student confidentiality and comply with applicable privacy requirements.
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, instructor training, and other academic activities as required.
Cooperate with school administration during BPSS inspections, audits, curriculum reviews, and other compliance activities.
Perform additional instructional duties as assigned by the School Director or Academic Administration.
BPSS Instructor Requirements

Candidates must meet applicable NYSED-BPSS teacher licensing requirements for the Allied Health subject area(s) they will be assigned to teach.

Requirements include:

High school diploma or recognized high school equivalency diploma at minimum.
Appropriate practical occupational experience in the Allied Health subject area to be taught, as required and accepted by BPSS.
Teaching experience alone may not substitute for required practical occupational experience.
Must possess any professional license, certification, registration, or credential required for the occupation or subject being taught, when applicable.
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain the appropriate BPSS Teacher Permit or License for the assigned instructional area.
Must provide all documentation required by BPSS to verify education, occupational experience, professional credentials, and other qualifications.
Instructor assignments will be limited to subjects for which the individual is appropriately qualified and authorized to teach.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree or higher in Allied Health, Healthcare, Nursing, Medical Assisting, or a related field.
Current professional certification or license applicable to the instructor's area of expertise.
Previous teaching or training experience in a career school, college, healthcare organization, or similar educational setting.
Previous experience teaching adult learners.
Experience providing hands-on clinical or laboratory instruction.
Current CPR/BLS certification preferred when applicable to the instructional assignment.
Experience preparing students for industry-recognized certification examinations is a plus.
Skills and Competencies
Strong clinical and occupational knowledge within the assigned Allied Health subject area.
Ability to effectively demonstrate clinical and technical procedures.

Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
Ability to explain complex healthcare concepts in a clear and understandable manner.

Ability to maintain accurate and timely academic records.
Ability to work effectively with students from diverse educational and professional backgrounds.
Commitment to student success, patient safety, professionalism, and regulatory compliance.
BPSS Teacher Permit / License

The successful candidate must hold or be eligible to obtain the appropriate NYSED-BPSS Teacher Permit or License for the specific Allied Health instructional area assigned.

Candidates who do not currently hold the required BPSS credential must complete the applicable BPSS application process and provide all required documentation of education, occupational experience, and professional credentials.

Continued teaching assignments are contingent upon maintaining the appropriate BPSS authorization and meeting all applicable BPSS requirements.

Adjunct Instructor Expectations

Adjunct instructors are expected to:

Arrive on time and remain for the full scheduled instructional period.
Follow the approved curriculum and instructional schedule.
Maintain accurate attendance and grading records.
Submit required academic documentation by established deadlines.
Communicate promptly with Academic Administration regarding student attendance, academic concerns, classroom incidents, or other issues.
Maintain professional boundaries and appropriate relationships with students.
Maintain current knowledge and professional competency within their assigned Allied Health field.
Follow all school policies, BPSS requirements, and applicable state and federal regulations.
Physical Requirements

Depending on the assigned course, the instructor may be required to stand for extended periods, demonstrate clinical procedures, operate healthcare equipment, handle instructional supplies, supervise laboratory activities, and use appropriate personal protective equipment.

Compliance Requirement

Employment and continued instructional assignments are contingent upon meeting applicable NYSED-BPSS personnel licensing requirements and the qualifications established for the subject matter contained in the school's approved curriculum.

The Adjunct Allied Health Instructor is responsible for maintaining all required professional licenses, certifications, and BPSS credentials applicable to the courses they are assigned to teach.
