Job Description

Job Summary:

The RN Patient Care Supervisor (PCS) performs under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing and oversees daily clinical operations on assigned station, ensuring high-quality care and compliance with safety regulations. Coordination of care is accomplished through collaboration with physicians, associate staff and other health care providers to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved. The RN PCS shall implement the nursing process in an organized, systematic manner to include assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation as evidenced by documentation in Patient Care Record, direct observation by Director of Nursing and patient evaluations of care. The RN PCS is responsible to the Director of Nursing for patient care. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Will perform other job duties as needed.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:

  • Meets established standards of practice of assessment and reassessment from admission to discharge as evidenced by appropriate documentation in medical record.
  • Plans patient care in conjunction with other disciplines to meet the goals and individualized needs of the patients.
  • Competent in-patient interventions as evidenced by safe administration of medications, treatments, procedures, infection control, and addressing changes in status to safely care for patients.
  • Educates patients and family/caregivers on equipment, medications, safety, pain control, plan of care, and discharge needs as needed.
  • Completes accurate and timely documentation.
  • Determines patient assignments and monitors breaks and lunches.
  • Ensures a clean, safe, quiet and efficient work environment.
  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with other staff, directors, and physicians.
  • Exhibits astute critical thinking skills
  • Fill in as a staff nurse in times of critical staffing.

Qualifications:

Education/Skills

Graduate of a recognized RN program. Must have successfully completed at least 825 clinical

practice hours for B.S. program and at least 750 clinical practice hours for A.D. program. These

hours are exclusive of laboratory hours.

Work Experience:

One year medical/surgical nursing care required. Experience in Long Term Care Nursing preferred.

Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE

  • Licensed RN able to practice within the State of MS

Additional Certification/Licensure - Obtained based on required timeframe below

  • Basic Life Support

Within 30 Days of Employment
